Igli Tare will not be the Rossoneri’s director of sport as Paolo Maldini is now forced to find alternatives.
Paolo Maldini identified Lazio’s Igli Tare as the person he wants alongside him working on the sporting side of the Milan.
However, as reported by Sky on Sunday evening, Tare has given his definitive answer in regards to the offer of Maldini: the Albanian has decided to stay at Lazio.
Gianluca Di Marzio writes that Tare didn’t want to leave Lazio at this moment, as the transfer market has already begun. His choice is not related to economic aspects as in fact he will be staying in Rome without signing a new contract.
Maldini, Gazidis and Scaroni will now therefore have to find a new name. Reports last week suggested that the alternatives for Tare are ex-Verona Giovanni Galli, Atalanta’s Giovanni Sartori, ex-Roma Frederic ‘Ricky’ Massara, Sampdoria’s Carlo Osti and Bologna’s Riccardo Bigon.
The name of Manuel Rui Costa, who currently has this role at Benfica, has also been mentioned. Milan will need to make their decision quickly as the new season needs to be prepared.

Should be a red flag for us; there’s a reason someone doesn’t want to make the seemingly upgrade from Lazio to Milan; maybe he understands that without resources he’ll only tarnish his reputation here.
Hey there Baresis Dream i really doesnt think thats the reason why he apparently rejected us as he is a former lazio player and has spend ten years at the club after his playing days ended, why would he want to join us ? because we historically is a bigger club ? Not sure I agree with that mate especially since Lazio has never really worked with a large budget since the days of Sven Goran Eriksson.
So I highly doubt Milan’s budget was the reason why Tare declined. Despite the FFP penalties Milan will most likely even spend more than Lazio next season.
Like Tare said he was already working on Lazio transfer project for next season which is why he decided not to leave.
I believe he’s speaking the truth given that Lazio budget is nowhere near what Juventus, Inter, Roma and Milan have spent in the last few years.
