Hello everyone, this is the General Discussion thread for the next couple of weeks.

As I said back in the first General Discussion post back in November, these posts will continue until April, and so this is planned to be the last General Discussion before we go back to single posts.

As always, Forza Milan!

Disastrous outcome, a draw in San Siro and 2-3 injuries. And we have Juve next. Udi’s goal was a disgrace; such a poor cover against the break after the corner. CL looks ever so far.

Another two hours wasted watching this toothless team. Outplayed by lowly Udinese. Gattuso really should just resign, he simply has no clue.

Gattuso – if we score 1 goal. Let’s play defensive, if we concede than we will play with some urgency till then just do what your doing, defensive defensive the entire second half. Gattuso has cost us 3 matches in a row, yes the injuries were out of his control but his tactics and sense of play and team structure is all his. Get out now

We actually conceded a goal because we weren’t protecting our lead this time. We took that corner like we were trailing behind, leaving very little behind

Yep; I’m talking about Udi’s goal – we had two slow defenders in Abate and Biglia to defend from the counter. That’s no way to protect a lead.

Benching kessie when bakayako is clearly better than biglia in that midfield is just insane I honestly don’t understand this guy and his clueless tactics.

Rossi

Kessie was not even on the bench, he apoligized right after his outburst with Biglia and they fined him 40k, but it seems Gatuzo still wants to further punish him so he didnt include him in the team tonight. If you ask me Gatuzo is just to egoistic for Kessie “disrespecting” him, he said he was sorry and in the end it was not some big incident just a bit of yelling..Gatuzo need to let it go and bring Kessie in the team for the greather good.

I said before if we are to play both bakayoko and biglia it has to be in a 4 2 3 1 system. Both are the same player playing as deep lying playmaker. It’s no coincidence that once they both started playing together that we have lost the midfield. Shows too how important Kessie is not because of his skill,Rather of a wlell balanced midfield. Bakayoko can’t run up and down the flank like Kessie does. Bring him back. Our team is so dependant on our midfield. If they play good we win if they don’t we lose. That’s why… Read more »

To be honest I would not play both of them together for the same reason why Allegri couldn’t play Pirlo and Van Bommel together. They would cancel each other out making them both ineffective which is exactly what we see with Biglia and Bakayoko.

Either Bakayoko and Kessie or Biglia and Kessie. If Kessie is not available then play either Montolivo, Mauri or Bertolacci

Raven
Guest
Raven

I would rather see Biglia joining Monto on the bench. What a complete waste of money. And to think we lost Locatelli and forced Montolivo out too… That’s another thing that keeps me awake at night Gattuso played with the best players in the world. What do he sees in Biglia? Did Biglia kidnapped his family or something?

Raven
Guest
Raven

Biglia makes me sick, Biglia makes me wanna insult Gattuso, Biglia makes me want to punch someone in the face. When I see Local at Sassuolo and Biglia getting minutes just to embarrass the institution makes me wanna scream. FFS, put Borini on Kessies role, leave Bakayoko where he is shining. Gattuso is sacking it self

Spencer
Guest

Wondering why our midfield has been strong and balanced? Credit to Kessie and Bakayoko. Kessie’s work rate is second to none. Thos dashing runs into the box and back to do his dirty works. Garrison better relegate Biglia back to the bench where he belongs. Secondly Suso and Conti are the only ones who can deliver a near decent cross. That was evident tonight. Lastly please no more Piatek and Cutrone mess. I don’t know how I feel right now

Mathijs Van Sloun

Raven

What’re you talking about, Suso’s signature move is a cross at 140kph right to the opponents knees. If you have a keen eye you can see that he is so good at it that he doesn’t think or uses his eyes. It’s like tourette’s syndrome, he is sometimes gets the urge to randomly center the ball because he’s a pro and you know from 100 attempts one gets in so why not keep trying.

Mathijs Van Sloun

Mathijs Van Sloun

Again very moderate. Every player from Milan runs behind the ball during the build-up, but the midfielders and attackers almost hide themselves and nobody runs free. Probably that the eternal balls always come back on the defense. Milan just doesn’t know how to attack. That 4-3-1-2 is finally one bright spot, but then you should not put Castillejo on trequartista Gattuso, who did not know how to run at all. The free spaces between the defense and midfield of Udinese were not covered at all ?! Do not think that Gattuso will sit on the couch for a long time… Read more »

Surely the powers that be at milan are very worried about finishing fourth after this. Without champions league football and the money it brings will be a disaster. No win in 3 games against two teams we should beat easily, at this stage of season is bad. Two strikers didn’t get us a win what now? 352,4231,4321,or is it the players that aren’t good enough? Or is it the Coach? So fuc#ed off rant over.

We can blame Biglia or Abate or Suso or who ever we want for the recent bad results…but the truth is we have been playing really bad for months now, even when we were winning we were getting outplayed by the likes of Sasuolo and Chievo, so this bad results where coming sooner or later whit that kind of performances. I only hope that Lazio and Inter keep droping points as well so we can stay in the race for CL, and with a bit of luck we can get that 4 spot.

3 games, 2 losses and 1 draw. Juve and Lazio next. What is gattuso gameplay now, change formation to a back 3, if all else fails try the extreme. 5 different tactics in 20 min in the second half against juve if plan a,b,c,d and g h don’t work. I don’t think I’ve seen any manager yell and scream for 90 min as much as gattuso does and the team still plays the same haha it’s disgraceful sit down and read a book cause you can’t manager milan

As we all know, Milan suffers from lack of motivation, its a fragile team that plays great matches against Juve Napoli and Roma but gets a slap by Spal, this has been happening since Allegri’s days, of course if a Ferrari is beaten by a Fiat you’ll blame the driver. Gattuso was appointed to impose his personality to the team, professionalism, hardcore training sessions and most importantly BALLS. This is a team who’s players arrive late to training sessions and much worst things have been reported in the last 5 years, so Gattuso is not a good tactician but he… Read more »

Juve tactics going to be press high up pitch like everyone else does to us. So instead trying to play out from the back, gattuso should practice long ball over there slow center backs using piatek pace. Turn there defence is the key to scoring, and use samu as attacking midfielder for support with cutrone up top as well. If we sit back and defend zero points, might as well go for the win.

milan4lyf

You really think Piatek has pace? lol Not trying to belittle Piatek, he is a genius, but pace is surely not his strong suite. Long shots and pinpoint crosses are our only hopes. Trying to penetrate juve defense with our short passing technique is going to fail with fast juve counter attacks.

This whole fiasco started with the derby loss. Dunno what happened between Kessie and Biglia but they should both be fined same.

Ever since Biglia came back to starting 11 and Bakayoko moved to the right side, they seem lost.

It seems as Rino is losing the dressing room due to after derby row and unfair Kessie penalty

I agree with your analisys Kessie’s injury looked like a player’s protest. But Kessie was the one who had the be calmed by two players. So it’s fair that he gets a double fine, camera was on him. But to bench him over Biglia?

nick

Kessie had every right to be upset. He was being racially abused by the Inter fans. Perhaps Biglia should have been more sensitive towards Kessie. Gattuso handle this situation poorly that’s why it escalated. Both players resolve the issue between themselves like men and Leonardo and company should have have just warned them about their behavior as every club have a code of conduct that all the players have to follow. Milan was wrong to fine Kessie double the amount of Biglia’s fine especially knowing how sensitive the situation was with the racial abuse. Smh. This is why Kessie refused… Read more »

We just disagree on Monty and Gattuso, and I’m getting doubts with Gattuso if he fails to motivate the team. He was brought to be a hard man like Conte instead Rino is taking care of the team like they’re 8YO girls. Suso should be benched two months ago, Biglia and Conti lack match fitness and it shows. Hello all, i am new here. I would like to discuss about last game. 4-3-1-2 is worked well, but gattuso need to remove Biglia from the starting line up, Bakayoko seems like confused to play alongside him. Both our fullbacks has to play more active in this formation. Ibrahim Ba, Cafu, Oddo, Zambrotta, Serginho, Jankulovski are the type of player that is bombing up and down from the width area. They are reliable when going forward and offer so much while we are attacking down the flanks. Also i noted that Paqueta has play brilliantly at trequartista as he need… Read more »

Paqueta out for a month? Thank god we have suso and hakan lol. I’ve got a feeling we might get something out of juve, lazio games. Juve have champions league to think of and lazio inconsistent. With other teams round us dropping points we have to get that fourth spot. I don’t even want to think of consequences if we don’t, money to strengthen next season the main one.

Paqueta played an entire season with Flamengo and we should have never played him so much in the first place. It was just a matter of time before he got injured. Poor player management and it’s things like this why Milan players are always injured. I don’t understand why year after year Milan have the worst injury crisis and Milan lab is regarded as one of the best in football. Don’t be surprised if Gattuso plays Bakayoko and Biglia again even though it’s obvious to everyone except Gattuso that playing them together is not working. 1. a lot here are unhappy cos Milan was winning matches before the break……reason is that “Gattuso must go”
2. Now is their happiest time…….reason is that “even the goal conceded against sampdoria is Gattuso fault”
3. Lazio lost to SPAL, Inter lost at home to Lazio last week, Napoli lost to Empoli (udinese far better) and these teams are now thinking of getting back on track…….but here in this forum “Gattuso must go cos Milan must win every match”
4. Conclusion…..season about to end….if Milan makes it to CL then we justify Gattuso and if not……Who cares?….either Gattuso stays or goes

Gattuso needs to take a page from gasperini book enough said atalanta play some serious football and it shows that there manager knows how to manage a team. Sarri if he is sacked at Chelsea needs to come and reorganize this team.

nick

Atalanta is a joy to watch. They are one my favorite teams to watch including Borussia Dortmund, Man City and Ajax.

Atalanta press high and their counter attacking game is awesome.

I respect Gasperini a lot because tactically he is one of the best coaches and I really like how he manages a game with substitutions as well as making tactical adjustments during the game when he’s team is not playing well.

If Milan can’t get a big name coach next season then Gasperini would be great option. He knows his opponents weaknesses and he exploits it.

Biglia-Kessie row followed by Kessie-Rino row and now the renoved Rino-Leo row due to poor last couple of performances.

Mathijs did you get that from the article posted yesterday on calciomercato where it was speculated that Pochettino was gazzidis dream aquisition for a new coach. If so it was mere speculation and nothing gave a clear indication that a deal was done. If thats the case i frankly find it too gullible of you to believe such an article without questioning it at all and you should know better. I’ve only read rumors that Gazidis is “considering” Pochettino as one of his top targets. Nothing concrete. Gazidis list also includes Sarri, Conte and Klopp.

I highly doubt Pochettino or Klopp will leave Tottenham and Liverpool for a Milan Project that is still not there yet.

But anything can happen in football these days. so we’ll see in time how that goes. If Milan achieves a champion league spot then we can expect to see Gattuso again unless something drastic happens.

Raven

Conte will only coach elite players he might go to Inter. Mourihno should not be an option, Sarri might go to Roma, Allegri might be tempted by PSG. Gasperini is unlikely to leave. Di Francesco won’t touch a “confused team” Simeone might go to Argentina N.T. or Inter. Jardim and Touchel I don’t know their situation so IDK. Call me crazy, but Lopetegui is available.

Raven
Guest
Raven

Oh, I forgot Wenger, but there is a clause in Gazidi’s contract where he is fined every time he mentions Arsenal.
My best option would be Ranieri. But seriously any takes the job should be given patience and support from directives and fans.

This is getting ridiculous. I strongly believe that this insecurity harms players even more than defeats. Its not they weight of the rossoneri is the uncertainty of where you will be sold, which new language and role you’ll be forced to learn.

Big no to lopetegui. Honestly, I hope Milan does not sign a coach who has never coach in Serie A unless it’s someone like Klopp or Guardiola. Serie A is more tactical than any other league and it will take time for a new coach who has no experience in this league to settle. I think Milan should look at building something long term with young players. Therefore, a coach who is good with getting the best out of young quality players is the best option in my opinion and that only leaves Gasperini. Marco Borriello suck but he scored… Read more »

Absolutely agree with Nick. Gasperini is not only just ‘good’ with young players, he is one of the best out there to handle youth. And Milan is all about youth as the squad avg age in just somewhat above 24 and going even lower when Montolivo, Berto and Mauri would leave. Also, Jardim is just as good with youth, but he doesn’t have Serie A experience. That’s a major issue. It’s gonna be really hard for a new manager to adapt to serie A. Apart from the obvious players that are leaving like Bertolacci, Montolivo, Mauri and Strinic. I would dare to say Suso is definitely on his way out. He wants more money and Milan are not interested and neither am I . So I expect players like Suso, and Laxalt to leave including a few surprises like Biglia and maybe Kessie. Though I think it would not wise for Milan to off load Kessie especially if we sign Bakayoko. Him and Kessie have good chemistry in the midfield. We just need a good manager that knows how to use him. Casti is really good, but he needs players around him that are just as fast as him to reach the potential everyone sees in him. What a disgrace by the referees. That was an obvious penalty. Shame! Milan playing with a high defensive line instead sitting deep like we usually do. Suso and Calhanoglu are also drifting inside closer to Piatek and Borini with Kessie pushing up to support the attack.
