Hello everyone, this is the General Discussion thread for the next couple of weeks.

As I said back in the first General Discussion post back in November, these posts will continue until April, and so this is planned to be the last General Discussion before we go back to single posts.

As always, Forza Milan!

Silly mistake from Musa and Calabria. When will Gattuso learn that Musa shouldn’t be the first choice compare to Caldara??

Really good performance by the boys, especially until Pjanic got in, but all and all a bad result. The ref was a bit harsh on us I felt, and we could have been more sharper, but Juve in Torino is always going to be a super hard fixture. Bakayoko and Kessie really stabilized our midfield, and we were finally able to do a decent job starting from the back againt high press and at a super difficult stadium. Suso did well for 45 minutes, and Piatek is Piatek (although shame on that miss from Suso’s superb cross at the start… Read more »

Juve without it’s best player and we still lost the game. Allegri outclassed Rino again. we lost to Rino’s inability to read and change the game.

We lost because of individual mistakes. The pressure of the game was very high. Something that Calabria should learn through exprience. But Musa was outclassed by Dybala. Dybala was very clever to win that penalty.

Naw mate, we basically nullified them at home for 70 minutes, until that Pjanic sub. Granted, Juve looked like they couldn’t care less about this match, but still we looked really good in those minutes; not to mention the iffy performance of the ref throughout the match.

The boys fought well today, unfortunately we conceded two silly goals! Wish Gattuso could learn from those mistakes! Specially learn to place Caldara instead of Mussa!

What do you think of the handball in the first half? I think the penalty is clear as day. We were in the game and better than Juve up until Musa’s unbelievable brain fart. Mistakes and the ref – like the Sampdoria game – cost us ones again. And even with VAR, we keep getting messed with thanks to this so called “refereeing”. I’m honestly so sick of it and will stop watching this corrupt league that is Serie A, will only watch Milan until the end of the season, and just hope we somehow still manage to get to… Read more »

We can blame the ref as much as we can, but we lost the game because of Gattuso subs. By the time allegri made 3 subs and completely changed the game tactics to revolve around Pjanic, what did we do? We waited, and waited… waited… waited… For A JUVE GOAL!!!!! Oh yes, then we brought casti on for .. Suso!!!! The guy that assisted the ONLY goal!!!!! SERIOUSLY???? OHHHH Even better.. we kept Borini on !!! Oh yeah !!!! Then we brought on Cutrone for Calabria. What is our formation now? 3-5-2 with Borini and Casti as wingers?!!!! Should it… Read more »

Borini played well. His strenght is his movement that makes him sometimes score. He also fast enough and strong in defense. He is usefull against strong team but not usefull against weaker team

1. I think we played better yesterday….referee decisions dampened our moral a lot….
2. Musachio played very well but will be neutralized by the silly unwanted tackle in d box.
3. Bakayoko or Çalhanoglu man of the match
4. Dunno if the handball by sandro should be a penalty?….I guess it should be
5. Leonardo shook his head in disappointment of the referee decisions
6. Conclusion…. Milan should/Must/by all means of unconditionally beat Lazio next week and we’ll be save else……

The President of the Italian referee association will meet with Gattuso this week to “apologize” for the no penalty call against Juventus. According to the president and referee association Milan was denied a clear penalty as the VAR team disagreed with the no penalty call.

I smell another calciopoli scandal in the making. These referees are bunch of filthy rats. I can’t stand Juventus.

But what is there to discuss really? Even with VAR we’ve been denied a penalty vs Roma, a red card in the same game too, a clear penalty vs Samp – perhaps two according to Leonardo – and one penalty clear as day vs Juve now, perhaps another with the shoulder pull on Samu, and then a red card for Mandzu when he kicked out at Romag. These are AT LEAST three points lost – excluding the Juve game as it’s hard to say how that game would’ve turned out. What are they going to say? “Yeah we made mistakes… Read more »

Didn’t see the match but going on comments we played well and deserved something out of it. No penalty doesn’t surprise me because of who we were playing! Big games coming up and teams around us keep dropping points too so it’s all to fight for. How good is piatek, World class!

Lazio getting a penalty for the exactly same hand ball in the game with Sasuollo 😀 Any way the game ended a draw with another suspicios goal from Lazio in the dying seconds of the game, Atlanta also draw so we are still 4spot. In the meantime the italian referee association will meat Gatuzo to appoligize for the bad calls with Juve…like that would change anything now. I hope Gatuzo mentions the “bad” calls with Roma and Samdoria where we were also denied clear penaltys since this “bad” decisions are starting to affect our season big time. And lastly i… Read more »

1. Inter lost at home To lazio last week
2. Lazio drew at home To sassuolo today
3. Fiorentina lost at home to frosinone today
4. Inter drew a home to atalanta today
5. Wanting Gattuso to go cos of this game isn’t justified cos the italian referee association has even extended apologies.
6. Conclusion…we can continue changing coaches/players every season and expect growth….let Gattuso finish his season that he started then we judge him accordingly to the result
7. I will only judge this team including the coach next season….Bcoz at least about 6 new players would have been playing together for second season

The bad refereeing decision against Juventus doesn’t change the fact that Gattuso is not tactically good enough to manage Milan. His tactics, substitutions, game management and man management skills are horrible. We saw that against Udinese when Paqueta got injured. He subbed in Castellijo to play behind Piatek and Cutrone when Suso or Calhanoglu would have been a better option for that position. He also mismanaged the Kessie and Biglia situation which is why Kessie sat out the Udinese game. He moved Bakayoko out of his best position to play Biglia who is nowhere near as vital to our midfield… Read more »

Tactics and subs are inconsistent, but saying that gattuso’s man management is terrible is as wrong as one can be. How do you argue that his man management skills are terrible, when in fact it’s one of his greatest traits, if not THE greatest trait? How do you know it was up to Rino not to play Kessié? We all know that Hakan and Kessié are one of the real untouchables of Rino. And if this was the case he would’ve played Biglia again over Kessié vs Juve. I don’t agree with this. It was reported that Kessié had a… Read more »

@Milanista121 & Baresis Dream…Biglia wasn’t keen on how Kessie responding to being substituted and he told Kessie that he should show more respect to his coach and Conti. Keep in mind that Kessie was upset because of the racial abuse by Inter fans and Gattuso playing him out of position then subbing him for Conti because he wasn’t playing well at RB. In addition to that, the club fined Kessie double the amount of Biglia’s fine. Somewhere in the region of 40k. Gattuso made a public statement supporting the club’s decision instead of supporting Kessie who has been one of… Read more »

Hi Nick, 1. To say Gatusso’s man management skills are horrible is crazy – generally speaking, the players seem to love him, and Milan probably have had the fewest locker room squabbles in seria a. 2. Game management and substitutions is almost the same thing, and I get your point here. But man, you have to remember every coach makes these kind of mistakes (I recall for instance Gasperini’s terrible subs that handed us that match). The fact we’re all watch Milan much more closely than other teams magnifies these mistakes (mistakes is bad term here; better – bad gambles).… Read more »

@Baresis Dream….The coach is the first line of defense and protection for the players. Therefore, the coach should never make disparaging comments about players in public. It looks bad and will cause problems. That’s poor man management. This is what Gattuso said about Bakayoko after his 1st game at Milan. Gattuso said: “Bakayoko has to learn how to get the ball. “We must work correctly. It will not be easy.” “One week is not enough to remove the defects of a player. I would have preferred to be managing older, more experienced club players.” Bakayoko was coming out of a… Read more »

Average Points By Milan Coaches In Recent Years: (Sky)
Allegri 1.81 (178 games)
Miha 1.76 (38)
Montella 1.75 (64)
Rino 1.70 (74)
Seedorf 1.59 (22)
Inzaghi 1.38 (40)

So Miha and Montella earned more points compare to Rino. Consider that Miha was our coach in final years of Berlu era.
Miha is the only Interista I love. He is saving Bologna right now from the mess Inzaghi made. I hope we consider him If big names like Conte or Sarri doesn’t arrive. actually I prefer Him to both of the but that’s my opinion.

The only thing I credit mihajlovic for is being bold to trust Donnarumma over Lopez. Apart from that he is a mediocre coach. He is not what Milan needs.

Gasperini schooled him and in 15mins Atalanta was winning 4-0. Mihajlovic made 8 changes to his starting line up against Atalanta which contributed to Bologna self destruction against a master tactician in Gasperini.

If Milan cannot get a big name coach to replace Gattuso then the best option is Gasperini. Just imagine what Gasperini can do with top quality young players? Milan would totally dominate Serie A and the Champions League.

Raven

Yeah, he is good but master technician? Remember Leicester and its coach.

nick

Gasperini is a master tactician compared to Mihajlovic, Gattuso, Montella, Inzaghi and all the fake coaches we had since Allegri left Milan.

As I mentioned the only thing I rate Mihajlovic for is selecting Donnarumma and pushing Milan to sign Romagnoli because he wanted a left footed defender. Apart from that Mihajlovic is not a quality coach especially when compared to the likes of Gasperini.

You’ll have to take into consideration the amount of games they’ve had. It’s easier for him to have that point average when he has had less games. You can compare Miha to Inzaghi, but there’s no point average needed for that comparison as we all know Miha did better and Pippo was disastrous, unfortunately. Rino has had almost twice the games and is close to his point average. The difference is that Rino has us in fourth place still, and I honestly do not care if it’s because of the other teams not performing, the only thing that matters is… Read more »

In all fairness gattuso took over a team that wasnt good. Then this season cam along and we had a rough summer with the takeover and once again didn’t get to get the players he wanted. Still after that we’re fighting for a champions League spot. He isn’t the best coach, but he also doesn’t have a team built to his tactics. Next season I’m curious to see how he does with players he actually wants.

Raven

A tema for the future, he was asked to bring CL something that seem unachievable by recent years performance. Last year it was close when people said that he was clueless. Last season was pretty good considering the points lost with Montella.

LOL! next season?! Rino fan boys are really funny!

Raven

Yeah, not mentioning a solid defense. Something that we missed since TS left. And for those visionaries that predicted the clueless would lead us to Serie B 4th place at April even after a whole shitty month it’s not so bad. This team might end at 3th place, even if now we look closer to 7th.

We have a couple of months left to judge.

Miha did a decent job with what we had imo; he understood that the most important thing is clean sheets, and he even had Niang playing okay under him. But I still rank him and Rino quite similarly. Alegri is a whole different matter of course.

Soheil

I remember the amount of hatred he got from our fans because he had a history with Inter. but at least his team had a clear plan, He knew to make changes, shift tactics and read games. Sorry but how many games Rino changed the game by reading the game or surprising the opposition? we are fourth because every other UCL contender is shity like us. for god sake we can’t even pass to each other.

Raven

His team had a clear plan? More like brute force, his team didn’t play good football. He just improved defensive tactics a bit and imposed some order in the locker room.

When the referee association publicly apologize to Milan and suspend fabbri and he can’t referee the rest of milan games says something. But this isn’t anything new? Tell me one game between milan – juve that hasn’t been controversial in the last 5 years? 95% going in juves favour. I don’t even look forward to those games anymore. Milan always dominates and someway somehow they get a very questionable call not in their favour and around 70 min mark juve score and in the last 10 minutes add another. Milan actually played good against juve and still we get nothing,… Read more »

Rino should give opportunity to Caldara. Musa is a good player but we need better CB to play against strong team. Calabria is still young, he needs to learn coping the pressure of the game against strong team.

nick

Caldara is better by a mile. Musacchio occasionally makes bad decisions and he doesn’t look composed under pressure. he’s not athletic enough to mark fast players. He gets turned too easily by skillful players and he doesn’t fit well in a 3 man defense should Milan need to be flexible with different formations. Caldara fits all the above well. When Caldara played with Romagnoli we did not concede any goals even though those were in the Europa League. His positioning and marking is extremely good far better than Musacchio and Zapata and he hardly gets it wrong with his tackles… Read more »
