Lucas Biglia will be sidelined for a very long time after undergoing surgery.
Milan have been very unlucky with injuries this season and after losing Mattia Caldara for an extended period of time, today it was confirmed that Biglia will also be missing a few months of action.
“The injury, suffered by Biglia last Wednesday during the morning training session, involved the lesion of the myotendinous junction (MTJ) of the medial segment of the right calf that required surgery,” a statement on Milan’s website reads.
“The operation, carried out today in Finland by Professor Sakari Orava in the presence of the Team’s doctor, Stefano Mazzoni, was successful. Full healing will take four months.” This is a very tough blow for Gennaro Gattuso as the 32-year-old regista was a consistent starter in this campaign.
It is therefore likely that Milan will act on the January transfer market to get another midfielder (in addition to Lucas Paquetá) to replace Biglia. Zenit’s Leandro Paredes is believed to be a top target.
