Romagnoli: “We played really badly for 75 minutes and should’ve done much more, we’ve got a lot of work to do”

Alessio Romagnoli says Milan ‘have to do far more already’ after losing to Betis.

Up until Sunday, Milan had just one defeat this season (3-2 against Napoli) but yesterday they recorded their third loss of the campaign, and it came after a horrible performance at San Siro against Real Betis in the Europa League group stage.

Milan defended wrong, attacked wrong and couldn’t do anything in midfield. Gattuso tried changing the formation several times in the game but Milan’s only goal came in the 82′ minute from the legs of Patrick Cutrone and it was not enough as the La Liga side eventually won 2-1.

“We gifted them 75 minutes, as we played really badly and should’ve done much more,” Romagnoli told Sky. “We have to do far more already from Sunday. It’s a period in which everything we do doesn’t come out right. We’ve got a lot of work to do. Three at the back? That is up to the coach.”

Milan’s next matches are both home, against Sampdoria (Sunday, 18:00 CET) and Genoa (Wednesday, 20:30 CET). It’s very clear that a lot needs to change for Milan to pick up the wins.

I feel sad for you romagnioli, but just chin up man. You’re still very young and got a long way to go. Push for caldara to start. Develop a chemistry with him in defense.
