Franck Kessié’s agent has commented on the latest rumours concerning his client, saying the Ivorian wants to stay.
Kessié has been a cornerstone of Gennaro Gattuso’s Milan but in the last days there have been rumours that he could leave.
The Italian media claimed that Kessié has received big-money offers from China and that there are disagreements between Leonardo and Gattuso over whether they should sell the 21-year-old midfielder.
“If the voices risk of distracting him? We’re only on the ninth day of the league season and I don’t know why we’re talking about the transfer market already,” George Atangana, who represents the Ivory Coast international, told Calciomercato.com on Thursday. “Franck is in his second year at Milan, where he didn’t arrive by chance, and he’s gradually competing his maturation process at a high level.
“If I’m worried after the change of ownership and the rumours that start to spread? The players who make the headlines are always only those who have value. What I can say is that from Cesena to Bergamo, until arriving to Milan, all the coaches have been humanly and professionally linked to Franck. I have read about possible ruptures between Leonardo and Gattuso, with Kessié at the center of the eventual diatribe, but I’m unaware of such dynamics and to be honest I don’t think it’s possible.
“If I’ve talked to the club? Of course, I have a good, established relationship with them and I’m sure that if the will of Milan was to sell Kessié then I would be the first to know. On the contrary, in recent conversations I’ve learned that Franck is one of Milan’s untouchables.
“Offers from China have arrived? It’s normal for a player who has always had a market. However, it’s premature to talk about it right now. We have the sole objective of doing well with the Milan shirt at the moment. If there are still any unsellable players? What are you getting at? [laughs]. In light of what happens in today’s football, I think that no player is unsellable. Ronaldo moved from Real Madrid to Juventus, Bonucci after a year at Milan is back in Turin and Higuain made the reverse path. But I want to reiterate that Franck wants to continue his experience in a Milan shirt.
“He’s been scoring less [Kessié has scored two goals so far]? But he works a lot for the team and when the physical effort is constant then it’s not easy to be lucid in the penalty box. But I’m convinced that in this season he will exceed the number of goals scored with the Atalanta shirt.
“A renewal? I’m talking to the management, everything has its own time.”
