Bakayoko could reportedly play from the start against Genoa, Jack to replace the banned Çalhanoğlu in attack

Tiémoué Bakayoko’s debut may take place already on Sunday as Gattuso is apparently thinking to use Giacomo Bonaventura in attack.

While Leonardo and Paolo Maldini are working to complete the squad in time for the transfer market deadline on August 17, Gennaro Gattuso and his boys are preparing for the Serie A opener.

On Sunday at Stadio San Siro at 20:30 CEST, Milan take on Genoa, who will be without Diego Laxalt who’ll sign for Milan tomorrow. The Rossoneri will have to be however without Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who is suspended for the match due to the yellow cards he received last season.

As a result, Gattuso is forced to think of solutions. At first it was believed that Fabio Borini would replace Hakan in the line-up alongside Gonzalo Higuain and Suso, but according to a report from Sky Italia on Wednesday, Giacomo Bonaventura could be used as the left winger.

With Jack in attack, Sky expects new signing Tiémoué Bakayoko to play from the start, most likely with Lucas Biglia and Franck Kessié. Bakayoko has only been training with Milan for a couple of days, but according to Sportitalia’s Michele Criscitiello, Gattuso has been ‘bewitched’ by the 23-year-old.

In defense meanwhile, Alessio Romagnoli is expected to be flanked by Mateo Musacchio, with Mattia Caldara on the bench. There is still time until Sunday and Gattuso is considering his options.

See my point? Baka, Biglia, Kessie That’s all of our midfield three. What happens when two of them are unavailable and Kessie is on his inconsistent stint? We needed depth in midfield as urgent matter, not Laxalt. Laxalt is decent but he is not a world beater. Just like Loca is not a world beater yet. So why the unbalanced reaction from most of the fans? I am pleased that Lxalt adds depth, but midfield is the place that is in dire need for depth. See why I have been reacting intensely for the departure of ‘mediocre and average’ Loca?… Read more »

I totally agree here, we need depth in the midfield. If we get SMS that will be a wonderful buy. A player like Draxler would be a great addition too. Laxalt good addition, but certainly not a world beater. If Kessie and Bakayoko get injured we are in trouble. We need one more. Compared to Inter, Juve, Napoli our midfield still requires depth

LOL Bonaventura, Hakan can play in middle as they have done in the past. Up from we have Castillejo, Halilovic.

We also have Bertolacci and Jose Mauri for the midfield if they don’t leave. Gabbia and Bellanova as well.

To say we don’t have depth is not so correct. What we lack is talent… and I am in support of trimming down the squad and waiting for the right player, time and fee, all considering FFP.

Laxalt was signed because LeoDini has seen the great beyond, Strinic may not be available through the season, I knew it too, aging, slow, unfit, you name it.

I don’t see why the thumbs down, I understand your worries, but I gotta feeling SMS gonna come somehow.

I just hope though we don’t get one of those Uncle Fester’s last ditch surprises, Mr. X is coming and I’m 88.9 percent sure, lol.

We all know the club is prepared to splash the cash on a tiptop midfielder. Let’s wait for the window to close before we start getting concerned

Donna
Calabria caldara romagnoli rodriguez
Kessie biglia hakan
Suso higuain bonaventura

Hakan gives us more defense in midfield. None of the new signings, baka laxalt samu halilovic are better than these starters, which is kind of sad

We buy many new players and then coach still use old squad… We already have castillo to play left or right… But still use jack… Wkwkwkwkwk… I dont know what on his head…

And ussualy biglia will fight alone to help defense… Kessie will act like messi, he will at front of higuain…

Maybe its time to change new coach…

why would they both be unavailable at the same time? Bakayoko is French not African, so I don’t get your point. If Kessie is unavailable, then Bakayoko takes his spot in the trio with biglia and Bonaventura or Hakan. And if Biglia is unavailable, we play 2 holding midfielder with Bakayoko and Kessie.

While I agree upon the schemes you mentioned, I have to admit that Ink’s concern is right. We have not got enough quality boost in midfield creativity. Let’s hope Hakan would be able to cope with that expectation

but what is this obsession with the 4-3-3 formation by Gattuso,,y don’t we try a formation that includes most of our boys ,y not try the 4-2-3-1 formation

we shall see, it’s good to have decent players in order to change tactics and adapt in case of an injury or red card. Last year we didn’t have that choice. I still expect some players to leave.

Simple, we don’t have enough depth in the squad…. Experiment can be made by playing loca along with biglia and kessie/baka… This will give experience to loca, I would like to see a winger and midfielder in the squad added… Borini will be used as a Jack again, filling spot where required…

Firstly biglia is no good and it’s about time everyone knows that. Bakayoko is strong but he lacks quality. He isn’t a good passer of the ball and he needs to know when and where to tackle and use is aggression but he’s young sohopefully the right coach can improve that . Next thing is would like to say is that I don’t know why Milan don’t have any luv for bacca. I can see at least 15 goals a season from bacca and that’s what we need right now. Bacca’s only problem at Milan was montella and he’s gone… Read more »

Bacca is gone so no point talking about him. People who think Bacca is equal in quality to Higuain are deluded & keeping someone who earned that much as a second choice isn’t ideal for our current situation. The gross mismanagement of the wage bill is one of the biggest culprit to why we are where we are atm.

Drop one of Kessie and Bakayoko for Halilovic he will offer something different and is ready! With a 3 DMF system everyone will suffer from the Goalkeeper to the viewers. We have seen that under Allegri. I hope the team won’t use it aften after Calhanoglu is back and a possible additional mid.

Its not easy to see a muscle midfield like that but we all know its because Calha is suspended, Gatuso doesn’t do this and we don’t even know why he is deciding to start Baka straight away.

What ever choice he makes in the rigid midfield, i hope its temporary and gets us our first 3 points of the season. When Calha is back, we shouldn’t see such again.

Something no one seems to be mentioning here is Mobility. Kessie is perhaps our most Mobile Midfielder. Bakayoko is also very mobile (similar to Matuidi without the creativity).

This for me means we can get the ball out of our half and into the opponents half very quickly.

I am excited.

Kessie has a good sprint speed when running in a straight line. Not so much when needing to change directions with the ball.

Yes, How do you think he get in front of opponents box every time if he is not mobile .. There is a different between being mobile and pacey .. I think that’s where you getting confused

Can’t understand why people hate kessie, he is every where helping out with everything. Been our best midfielder since he arrived. Yes he lack vision and passing. But he sacrifice alot and have incredible stamina and strength
