Cristian Zapata expects Milan to have a great season and says the World Cup experience made him grow.

Zapata joined the squad of Rino Gattuso last week after finishing his post-World Cup vacation and in the evening between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Colombian will be there at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis to take on Tottenham for a friendly (02:30 CEST kickoff).

“The World Cup? I had a strong experience at the World Cup,” Zapata said in a presser, sitting alongside Gattuso. “I had an injury before going there and then I worked with a limit. We had a good tournament and I brought my experience to the group even if I was playing very little. It made me grow a lot as a person and as a player.

“Playing in Minneapolis? It’s a beautiful city and a beautiful stadium I can’t wait to play tomorrow when there’s an opportunity. The objectives of the season? Certainly the last period has not been beautiful, but now we see that Milan is reborn. We have a strong group and the people in charge are doing their duty to bring us back to high levels, [doing] everything to get Milan back among the big.

“I expect a great year, it will be a special season because after many difficulties we want to show results. I expect it to be good for all of Milan.”

This is what they said by this time last year

I remember vividly my thoughts on Milan winning serie a last season with the over $200 million signings.

I never take these comments seriously.

I hope Gattuso stays and comes up with a better strategy on qualifying for champions league…
