Simone Verdi has moved to Napoli and Milan also got some money as they were entitled to 20% of a future sale.

Verdi, who grew up in the Rossoneri’s Youth Sector and won the Primavera Coppa Italia in 2009 (scoring a great goal in the final), was sold to Bologna two years ago and as part of the deal, Milan were entitled to 20% from a future sale.

Simone’s good performances in the jersey of the Rossoblu did not go unnoticed and yesterday he completed a move to Napoli.

The Partenopei paid €25m for the 25-year-old, and so Milan get €5m for it.

  1. Good news is we pocketed 5mil from Verdi transfer.
Bad news is we only pocketed 5mil from Verdi transfer and we never should have sold him, he was most promising player in that Primavera.

    • I wonder why he didn’t get much attention as the likes of Cristante. He was equally promising and one of the top young talents in Europe at around 18. I don’t know much about his character and mentality which of course play a lot in jumping to the real game but he’s fast, got nice ball skills and shooting technique. It’s not like there were no signs of him being this good in the future.

      • Exactly mate. I remember buying him on football manager and he developed in something similar that we see today.
Point is he was showing that much potential, that was being noticed even outside Italy. Buy back clause was a logical move back than.

          • I wanted to say the same mate .Seeing the likes of Niang were even key members and that guy can’t quite remember his name – was on loan from Genoa now playing for Marseille. Yea a period too valuable for Verdi
