Patrick Cutrone has been called-up by interim Italy coach Di Biagio for matches against Argentina and England and he will be joined by three other Milan men.
Despite the summer arrivals of Nikola Kalinić and André Silva, many would agree that the best striker at Milan right now is Patrick Cutrone, who until last season still played for the Diavolo’s Primavera.
The 20-year-old has netted 14 goals in all competitions this term and his good performances have earned him a place in the Italian national team.
The Azzurri, who are rebuilding after failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, still don’t have a long-term coach but in the meantime the side is managed Luigi Di Biagio. Di Biagio knows Cutrone very well from their days together at Italy U21 and he has decided to call him up for the upcoming ties.
In addition to Cutrone, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Leonardo Bonucci and Giacomo Bonaventura (his first call since November 2016) have also been called-up. Center back Alessio Romagnoli, who has been excellent lately, was supposed to be there as well but is suffering from muscular fatigue and has been instructed to rest (he is also out of the squad for tomorrow’s Chievo game – 15:00 CET kickoff).
Italy will be facing Lucas Biglia and Argentina on March 23 at the Etihad Stadium in England and then England at Wembley on March 29. Danny Welbeck has been called-up so watch out for dives.
