It is possible. Milan can beat Lazio with a counter-attack football using 5-3-2 formation. Rino needs to play fast and strong strikers. If I were Rino, I will start the game with duo Silva-Cutrone.
The 5 defenders can be transformed to 4 backlines and 1 stopper. I suggest to use Musacchio as a stopper.
Good luck, Rino.

Interesting thought. Where would Suso fit in this formation? Suso has been our best player this season and that formation would all but nullify his contribution.

We were so lucky to come away with all the points tonight, as despite Cagliari not being at their best, we had many disappointing individual performances, too.

Suso, Rodriguez, Calhanoglu, Bonaventura and even Donnarumma all played terrible today. Kessie and Romagnoli were the better players.

Because they were not. They are not getting the results recently but performance-wise they are better than this, you would have known if you had watched them against Juventus in the previous round.

Well some of those induviduals are played out of position, Calahoglu is not a winger, he found him self in the mid with the ball two times and provided two great passes that created two chances, Bona on the other side cant pass yet he playes in the mid and we all know he is better on the side where he can use his dribling abilitys. Gatuzo did big inprovment in the form and physical preperation of the players, but in tactics he is no different than Montela. He will never see that we need to play with two strikers,… Read more »

Kessie made goals? Just good. Not best.
He is lucky for that pair.
Bad game play like the whole squad.
But afterall, still important 3 points.
Wish will be better next.

We are not playing well but we are grinding out results, and for the first time in the league this season we come from behind to win a match,so thats some improvement from the days of Morontella.Donna is nothing special just a glorified Dida,Calabria needs to improve defensively but he has been better since the Lazio game,Bona offers no creativity in this team, just takes up space and slows the game down,Kalinic is the snr Morata, but he would make a good boyfriend/husband because even if you are far or near he’s still gonna miss u,didnt have a bad game tho.Forza milan.

Oh yes please go ahead name the 20 goalkeepers aged 18, better than Donnarumma.
And who cost 250k btw.
He made an unforgivable error today. So what?
Neuer flaps too sometimes. Donna is no Neuer. He flaps more. But he flaps a lot less than Perin. Or Luca Crosta the Great for that matter. And forget them, look at Lafont. Lafont and Donna comparable?

Really, I am far from Donna hater (I don’t even rate him overall low today) but all your arguments stopped standing when he demanded (and got) 50% higher salary than Buffon and became (by very far) the most expensive GK in Italy. He is not paid as an 18 year old, he is not paid to be at the same level as Perin or any of the other SerieA GKs. HE moved himself to another level. So yes he has to be compared with Neuer – it was his choice. Did you forget that he is (paid as) the Maradona… Read more »

Mmmmm I wouldnt say that Hart, Schmeichel jr or Karius are better. Karius is barely better than Mignolet, and Mignolet is not close to Donnarumma. Schmeichel is more consistent, but far from world class as Gigio can be on his day, and Harts performances dips more than a roller coaster. Not necessary to mention three out of the many keepers you mentioned, but it’s a bit harsh on Gigio. I’d also add Subasic to my own list. I would however add Roma’s Allison to the list who has been the best keeper in Serie A so far along with Handanovic.

Go and watch last year’s Champs League final highlights. There’s one or two goals which a keeper of Buffon’s caliber should have saved. All keepers make mistakes, besides yesterday’s shot which Donna should have saved was not as straightforward as most of you make it sound. There were defenders obstracting his view and the ball bounced on its way in.

Well, for once kalinic contributed positively. His floppings around really did good for milan both offensively and defensively. He needs to stop pushing his luck with those cheeky dives inside the box though.
Kessie, 2 cb, biglia all did reasonably well but im curious as to why did it take so long for rino to make changes. Was he satistied with this performance?
Lastly, borivaldo cameo late in the game when milan were already 1 man down will be discussed by football pundits, scientists and preachers alike for years to come

Kalanic did contribute. He had his ups and downs throughout the match, but I think he did exactly what Gattuso expected of him. I think milan are in between a rock and a hard place as they have placed so much stock in Suso, but lack a true target man to thrive in a 4-3-3. Either Suso must go, or werr need to invest in a different kind of striker. Kalanic, Silva, and Cutrone all do better in a two striker system, but Milan seem to stubbornly avoid a 4-4-2. Perhaps Suso could play the right mid, but I’m not… Read more »

I keep saying that I dont really bother about how we play… but that is a lie, because the way we played today doesnt give me hope that we can beat Lazio. What gives me hope is that we finally have two wins in a row, havent had that since the beginning of the season when we beat, you guessed it, Crotone and Cagliari. However, what might give me hope is that we turned the game around after trailing, it’s the first time we’ve won a game after conceding first this season, which is a shocking stat really, so it… Read more »

Milan need Conti fit as soon as possible. I have no faith in Calabri or Abate.

They both suck big time and its sad that our best option is injuried.

Both the Left and Right back position needs reinforcement this summer.

Although Calabria had a decent game, his game is not good enough at this level and for a top club like Milan.

I was trying to reply to milan10’s comment but got posted here. Anyway it seems once the opponent shots or crosses from your side for a goal, you should take a blame. Calabria was making some nice passes with Suso and Jessie until everyone else stopped playing and still it’s not like he’s done bad after we stopped playing but you guys are saying all this. You think Conti is magic and will blocking every shot.

“He couldnt do much” exactly. He couldve done better, like he couldve done better all season.
And no, he wasnt one of the best players. Kessie, biglia, two cb, hell maybe even kalinic were. Not calabria. If it wasnt for solid performance by 2 cb he wouldve been exposed. for gods sake he couldnt even control simple pass from bonucci, giving away cheap throw in near his own penalty box. And everytime he traded passes with kessie or suso he lost the ball. Every time

yes I was expecting more of RR and Hakan too… but at the same time other players are improving Bonucci and Romagnoli together are fine… lets hope Kessie Biglia step up his game…. and of course Conti back asap.

Gattuso was one of my favourite player when I was a kid… I like him a lot but Milan needs a coach… he’s good for the morale but not a great tactician…

These moaners can get out of here. What is it that Milan did not do well? We created loads of chances and forced their keeper to make saves, we defended as a unit and controlled the game well. Even Donna that made mistake for their goal redeemed himself by keeper us in the game with a great save.

If Milan lose they complain and if Milan win they still cry. Pathetic moaners.

We suffered in the last 15-20 mins? YES! Would you rather play ugly in last 20mins and earn the 3 points or keep being offensively stupid like Montella and get knocked in last 10 mins and go with a point?.

I wasn’t nervous even when we were behind because I knew we would score considering how good we played and the nos of saves we made their keeper made.

Conte and guardiola have done and proved themselves much more as coaches than rino so, hypothetically speaking, having one of them as milan coach would hypothetically improve milan chances at winning trophies or at least finish the season at respectable position worthy of milan history. So when u say u dont want zidane, ance, conte or pep as milan coach, u want gattuso instead, ur not speaking hypothetically. Ur speaking out of sense of sentimentality.

Stop playing bonaventura in midfield as he cant neither dictate play nor play a killer pass. Better put him on the right wing as alternative to suso – one is a left footer who tends to cut in while another is a right footer who stays wide and cross to stretch opposition’s defence. Have to teach him to cross n combine with his teammates though as he has zero teamwork
