Lucas Biglia can’t continue with his injury and will be out for an amount of time that is not yet known, but there is hope Giacomo Bonaventura can return against Napoli after the break.

Reports suggested before both the Chievo and Juventus matches that Biglia is dealing with muscular fatigue and could be rested; but instead he started both matches, and now it’s been confirmed that the 31-year-old midfielder is suffering from an inflammation & is forced to stop.

Milan doctor Stefano Mazzoni spoke to MilanTV to give the weekly update on the injured players today, giving news on the situations of Biglia, Giacomo Bonaventura and Davide Calabria:

“Biglia suffers from an inflammation in his left patellar tendon. He has been suffering with this problem for a while now, but he’s a great professional and always made himself available, but the pain and inflammation have increased. We have therefore decided to rest him and to take some time to cure this tendon.” Lucas will miss the AEK Athens match and likely miss the Sassuolo game as well. Argentina have also announced that he’s been taken out of the squad for the upcoming break.

“Calabria? He had a head and cervical trauma. It was quite a knock out [against Chievo], luckily he didn’t lose consciousness. The exams in E.R. were immediately reassuring and he underwent medical checks too in the last days and he’s a lot better. But every time there’s a head trauma there’s a rigid protocol to be followed. We are keeping him monitored, on a daily basis, to see his improvements and we’ll understand when exactly he’ll be fit to play, but it’s premature to say when as of today.

“Bonaventura sustained an injury in his left biceps femoris flexor muscle. His recovery is proceeding smoothly. Let’s hope to have him back for the first match after the international break against Napoli.”

After the Napoli game we have an easy schedule ahead of us, let’s hope we can capitalize on that. Even though i know there are no easy fixtures for Milan at the moment. I miss the Milan of last season actually quite an average team but full of surprises. I hope we can just forget the league and concentrate on Europa, hopefully a miracle happens..

==Reports suggested before both the Chievo and Juventus matches that Biglia is dealing with muscular fatigue and could be rested; but instead he started both matches,== that show how montella is unable to coach a team. the guy is aldready tired and out of form;he keeps on playing him for what; just to make shure he forces his body to get injuryed. where he could have givin locatelli on both games the start and im shure the boy would have made a better game then biglia.. i never could imagine that montella would turn out like that. someone wrote this… Read more »

My guess, Abit more.

Manga la figa

Montella’s been overworking everyone other than the strikers. Biglia can’t get a day while Silva can’t get game time other than Europe.
The coach is a clown

Abe

I just come here to check if Montella has been fired yet… lol

Puang_Machink

Enter Loca, give Biglia time to rest physically and mentally. Just hope that if Loca performs well he will keep on playing due to form.
Isnt it weird that we were more efficient last season, but now with an arguably better side in every department, perhaps not attack, but we have stagnated instead of going forward? Smh…

VRN

Last year we played with already known formation, even this year we started well untill Noobtella started to experiment with 3 at the back, and stupid rotation which makes no sense at all as this article points that out clearly.

Anthony

Locatelli should be starting anyway, he is better offensively, more a goal scoring threat, the same passer as biglia if not better and plays at a higher tempo, which is what we need right now, biglia is probably better defensively, but loca is learning his trade, but is still a acceptional defender, he tackles hard and wears his heart on his sleeve, he is the future of this club and he need to start alongside kessie, as long as we start building a chemistry between kessie and locatelli that will be very valuable for the future, unfortunately biglia inst part… Read more »

Final episode. if we loose again, Montella must out

Agni

Now it’s already too late to sack montella.
He has already done irreparable damage to the current season.

No coach in this world can take over now and make us qualify for UCL.

This season is already over for milan.

nick

Yep. My thoughts exactly. We might as well wait for Conte next summer.

Rumor has it that Gattuso will take over as interim coach if Montella fails to win the next 2 games.

Conte will be in charge next season. I think that makes sense as no serious coach will take over a team in crisis in mid-season.

Alrite, so lemme get this straight. This loser morontella keeps on changing line up like giggling school girls change their underwears to preserve players fitness and avoid injuries but he knowingly plays injured player whose position on the field is most physically demanding? Can one be any dumber? Regarding his “experiments” on line up and formations. Like i said, lets do simple math. U have 50% (50:50) chance of being right when u perform experiment, probably even > 50% if u measure ur variables accurately. Therefore, if u experiment twice then ur probability of being right on BOTH occasions will… Read more »

I said the same. Conte inherited a new squad when he took over Juve, bought a couple new players, and won the league unbeaten, and then did the same with Chelsea and won again. Allegri won in his fist year with Juve as well as Milan. Whats their excuse, when they inherited AN ENTIRELY new squad and still managed to grind out the results? Finally the “eleven new players”-excuse is dying out, it should’ve been over even after a month. Look at Immobile, why is he performing so well after a few years of mediocrity after being the capocannoniere? Because… Read more »

Montella is one manager i cant comprehend his decisions,he keeps hammering on rotation and never rotates Biglia even while he’s struggling with injury. He seems clueless.

yeah injury….. like Pato and El92, Kessie will be injured soon mark my words

c elshawary scoring against Chelsea c sporting Lisbon scoring against almighty juventus most times is not always d coach d players rilly nid to wake up if sporting can score juventus n we Av a better team Dan diers y can’t we score n do more Italian team r making progress tank God let milan represent us in Europa league.

Baresis Dream

Another report says Suso is having problems as well. So next match no Suso, no Biglia, and no Jack.

May Sir Bonaldhino God Mesusso and Lord Aquibligia be with us soon

RR Locatelli Montolivo Borini hakan Silva Kalinic

Ink

Wish we still had Bacca instead of Kalinic. And then some people keep saying ‘oh but Kalinic does so many little things in the box!’ I’d still take Bacca – who scores instead of someone doing all those little things that end up nowhere. And I know I may come off as someone who defends Montella. But I am extremely irritated by him not giving Loca proper minutes and keeping on playing Biglia and Kalinic. Its that Pasalic business all over again. We should focus on EL now. That is our chance for CL spot. Step 1 – win EL… Read more »

nick

Sorry bro but i have to disagree with that statement about Bacca and Kallinic. Kallinic is a better striker for modern football where a striker has to do more than just wait for someone to pass them the ball like Bacca. In all fairness to Kallinc, Buffon made a great save. I cant blame Kallinic for that. Montella should be playing with 2 strikers. When we did that against Austria Vienna both Kallinic and Silva played well as they opened up space for each other. But an idiotic Montella keeps unsettling the players by changing the formation and starting 11… Read more »

Raven

I miss Bacca, Kalinic is great better than I expected, but using him has false 9 to assist wingers is just plain stupid, Suso is no Callejon and Bonaldhino is no Mbappe, now, Kalinic and Silva together will be deadly but to take suso out of right flank? no, hell no, we can lose donnarumma and other top player at august but playing suso other than right flank is a no no

nick

Very true. If only Montella could stop this madness with playing our players out of their best position then maybe we can start winning.

Pray_For_Milan

If Biglia and Suso are out then I suggest 4-4-2 with Silva-Kalinic/Cutrone upfront with Hakan-Locatelli/Kessie in midfield. Calabria/Borini/Abate and Rodriguez as side backs with Musacchio-Romagnoli as centre backs.
If we play 3-4-2-1 well be short of players quality players and impact subs. We know our coach will just put Silva on the RW and puts Kalinic as ST.

oluwa shevy

all of u saying we should concentrate on Europa league I sorry do u r know teams dat r still coming from Champions League gud teams all wit d same goals to carry it. a bird at hand is better than the ones in d bushes.d league is still reachable if only we go wit d rite dimension n approach.none of d big team will b consistent all tru d season every team as dey ups n down.so dat mindset of Europa league we should we removed it.

Milanista121

People also forget Arsenal and Lazio are in the competition, plus that Atleti seems to be falling down to EL, all of them are better teams than us. We can beat them in one-off matches, and perhaps until then the team has gotten their…together. But even EL is looking hard to win as things are currently.

Raven

Next to impossible if we think clearly, I just cant see too many improvements over last season, only RR Borini and Kalinic not as goal scorer but as a 2nd striker, Aquibiglia isn’t better as Montolivo, Kessie isn’t better than our missed Tank, hate me but Bonucci does not improve a lot from Paletta and Zapata from what he has showed, Saddest thing is that with these results we still be happy with a suso or a bonaldhino, If we have 3 very good regista kind of players why does our play come from the cb? this attacking play isnt… Read more »

Thank you Montella.

Ipadeola kolawole

Thank God and thank u all for all u ve seen and said. Montella is a great deal of problem to Milan. I await his sacking. Forza Milan!

Pray_For_Milan

We should concentrate on both as it will increase our chances on both competitions rather than go all in at UEL.

If Sousa is the replacement in line to fill Montella’s boots than I suggest we stick with Montella. Sousa is no better than Monto

There’s an interesting stat on milannews.it — all of the strikers score less with Montella in charge (Bacca, Kalinic, other guys at Sampodria). This clueless coach is full of ego and does not want any striker to do better than himself in his playing day.

Raven

Playing with one striker is to break the offside or to assist, what does Silva and Kalinic does? They just are used to create space to Mesuso, an overated piece of …… so I think some will remember Lapadula some where saying that he should play on the midfield well where should we play silva and kalinic according to Morontella?

derya

montella is loosing everything out of his hand.but he desserves that. maybe a lesson to him.better plan before acting.becouse time you do not have in a big Project. i belive if the seoson is overr already now. as in the europa legue there will be still coming the teams from the champions legue and they all have a much more compact team; as for the legue .lazio = inter=Napoli=juve=roma going to drop points yes but this year they all perform verry good as their teams final setteld down and play together .maybe gattuso would be a good choise . as… Read more »

Most of us use to bleam Biglia but montella is the problem he don’t even know how to use his player’s poor performance every game i enjoyed last season more than this season we were fucked by every game#montella#out

Ted

Can’t help but to think over and over again different possibilities for this team

What if Montella tries Kessie as a holding midfielder in mid of three along with two attacking mids. Biglia is not convincing regista, similar to Montolivo

I see many european teams play a strong holding mid along with two attacking mids on each side, strongest one being City with Silva-Fernando-Bruyne

Raven

I think that would only work with Hakan and Mauri, Monto and Biglia are way too slow,

g-win

had it been he is rotating i would not bother my self.. biglia has been out of sort for three games in a row, kassie has just been a case. but he keeps playing them.. you dont need a uefa pro licence to know this. how i wish montella could gt injured and miss 5-6weeks on the dugout…. his stubbornness and tactical naivety is costing milan alot. i seriously cant deal. every game milan must conceed at least two goals…

tcl00

I am not going to sound pessimistic or condone Montella but changing coach will not solve anything. You can bring the best coach here it will take time. No easy solution. You can bring Conte or whoever nothing will be solved. People just need to have patience may be months, may be a season or two. But one thing will never change we will always be with Milan, we will rise again. Forza Milan!!!
