The ‘secret blitz’ of Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli was to Sardinia to meet with Jorge Mendes.
It was written in the morning papers that Fassone & Mirabelli had a secret mission last night, with the objective being unknown, and after an earlier rumour suggested they were in London, it has now been revealed that the duo was actually in Sardinia, in a meeting with Mendes.
The Milan CEO and director of sport met at Cala di Volpe with the super-agent, with whom they have already worked this summer in order to bring in Andre Silva from Porto for €30m + €2m in bonuses. The trio discussed the market with three names reportedly being the conversation topics: Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao and Renato Sanches.
The Rossoneri are in search for a striker and addition to the usual names of Andrea Belotti, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nikola Kalinić, there is also Mr. X. Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedullà and the online version of il Corriere dello Sport believe that the 28-year-old Chelsea striker Diego Costa is an unlikely option for the attack, as he’s been promised to Atletico Madrid. It is claimed that in regard to Costa yesterday’s talk with Mendes didn’t get bring the result Fassone and Mirabelli were hoping for.
Pedullà adds that Radamel Falcao has been offered to Milan, but at the moment the 31-year-old Colombian of Monaco is not a priority for the red and black management. Renato Sanches is also said to have been discussed as it is widely known that the Diavolo want him and Mendes is his agent.
There is still over a month until the end of the mercato and after signing 10 players, Fassone and Mirabelli are now taking their time in choosing how to spend the reminder of their budget.

Diego Costa as Mr X? Few more fitting strikers for a top seria a team. Truly an amazing upgrade to any squad, and one of the best strikers in the world. Period. But his explosive behavior. A real Pandora’s box in the locker room, and a most probable challenge to Montella’s authority on the squad (even Conte barely handled him). Could bring the moral and discipline of the team completely down if we become dependent on him, and we will most likely be dependent on him. Worth the risk? I guess so. How can you say no to such a… Read more »
I think you exaggerating Diago Costa as a striker GIVEN the strikers we are linked to already,it is an upgrade, yes, but i feel it is just as an upgade with Aubamayang or Belotti.I say theres no need for Costa, especially considering his behavoural problem
I really don’t like Costa and I don’t get why people like him so much, aside his behavior he’s not so good as people think, has poor ball control and is not really clinical
He’s a freakin cheat and prolly one of the most hated players in the world. I say no thanks.
I’ve also heard Aguero and Alexis have been bandied about. I’ll take one of those if not both lol
Tsep! Are you really telling us that Belloti is just as good as this damned Costa? Unbelievable! Belloti has only played one great season so far.
From professional perspective, I think Costa is a better fit than Auba or Belotti. Out of the three, he’s the one that least depends on team play, the strongest, and the best in the air. He’s essentially the same profile as Kalanic (the profile Montella is looking for), but way better and way more aggressive.
I agree Costa is the best option for Milan but in my opinion the”brst in the air” is Belotti, scored so many goals with headers and volleys, truly spectacular.
Diego Costa is a no no, he is never an option
Why nono?? Costa is a first striker and fits perfectly into Montella’s plan. Silva as a second striker and Costa is the first. Costa has been scoring over 20 goals every season. Financial wise, he is not going to cost a lot as the whole world knows that Conte is bent on getting rid of him. At age 28, by the time he is over his prime, cutrone will be ready to take over from him. This deal makes sense in every aspect. But will Cutrone be the man to lead our attack remains to be seen. The 2 goals… Read more »
Why not? If Costa comes Milan will most likely win the Scudetto. Costa gives a team grit. He is dogged, fearless and hard working and more than just the goals. Thanks to him Atletico won their only la liga in ages and Chelsea of recent won their last two premiere league titles thanks to Costa. Conte might have shot himself on the foot for letting the spaniard leave. My only concern is that Coasta is like Higuain who is not so good in league games accept in the champions league. Falcao won’t be a bad idea. He is just technically… Read more »
This is true but with it you get the ego and a combustible personality that tends to wear out his welcome after a few years.
Will he go off on Montella or have a huge blowout with Bonucci?
The teams young and I’m afraid he will ruin the chemistry.
I like the guy but I doubt he fits our team.
True, costa certainly has a temper like fire. Lets just hope things work our fine if he comes.
Falcao is not an upgrade for Bacca, in terms of playing style..
Hello guys… He is Atleti bound and IF he arrives it will be only for 6 months. Save your analyses.
Haha thanks Ali, my thoughts exactly… I wrote the same thing a couple of posts back.
Renato soon please… Falcao would be a good deal, he’s experienced, still very good, he was especially great in the CL. I think he’d be the alternative if we don’t land our main targets, he’d also be cheaper because of his age. Diego Costa seems impossible, I definitely wouldn’t want him just until Jan, it would just ruin our chemistry. Although, if we can get him for the season, it would be a the perfect deal. First half of last season he was the best striker in the world, he would be the perfect leader of our attack help us… Read more »
what will this means to milan if failed to sign too striker.
Will we finally settling with kalinic?
who again apart from all this linking striker? I believed not even a top striker but a improving striker can become a light.
well, I pray for cutrone and silva if bacca leave.
English murderer
With a chainsaw into pieces. It hurt my eyes.
ok, so don’t sign Costa, he think he’s too big for Milan,
Falcao can be temporary solution, as long as he take paycut salary & lower transfer fee, loan can be good option too, Sanchez is unacasary good idea, but 1st we’ve to make it sure it’ll not force Loca to leave, i still prefer we develop Loca than buy/loan Sanchez,
I don’t think so. Not long ago, Costa mentioned that Milan is a club with rich history. He is open to join. His behaviour and attitude may not be ideal but he certainly didn’t say that he’s too big for Milan or anything along this line
we try to sign him early last month but he reject contract, now seem he’ll do that again,
same as morata & j.rod, we found agrement with madrid, they just turn us down, they didn’t say that they just did…
We didn’t really try to sign Costa in the first place. There was some form of contact but i am sure we only really tried to sign morata bellotti aubameyang and kalinic. I am very sure we didn’t offer Costa any personal terms.
what kind of magic are you using bro? i’d love to have the ability to see beyond like you.
you one of them fortune tellers?
See beyond? You don’t need to be a fortune teller. Just follow Milan News faithfully and you will realise he didn’t reject the idea but we didn’t really pursue for him. Follow Milan news, you don’t need magic to foretell anything
I woulda loved Costa on a permanent deal but not on 6 months because Milan can’t be his stepping stone to Athletico.
Absolutely no to Falcao because he’s past his prime. Renato will be a fantastic signing.
Well said mate.
falcao would be great, scored 30 times last season and could teach silva some things
I’m glad it wasnt going to be Diego Costa, I still hope we dont get Kalinic, what Milan should do is just buy your Priority Player which is a striker and which sounds more like Belotti, then after that has been accoplished then you can sign anyone else you want just make sure you get your man, it would be nice to get Renato Sanchez as well but aim for your top man because time is running out. You dont want to be in that situation where Torino will need time to find a replacement to Belotti.
I think I love the ideal if Renato, and Costa, I wish you all watch chelsea match today, he destroy kante and man united fans are calling on Jose to sign him. please sign me Renato he will improve this current squad
Comment: coasta, falcao is not our solution all milan need is to scout out a young and brave striker
um, what is silva?
Seriously? I dont understand how our fans are still demanding so much after the Management has done an excellent work this mercato. “Top priority target”? What you want to pay 100mil for Belotti/or loose loca in the process? Torino are taking advantage of the current market and making crazy demands. we shouldnt give to them like that! Our signings so far have been significant. IMO i think i’ll let Fassobelli decide how they want to spend in the remaining market and i’ll be content regardless. And I dont know y people dont want Diego? He is a proven Goalscorer with… Read more »
I’m glad someone said it. Fassobelli have written themselves into Milan folklore in this window, even if it doesn’t work out. They signed some of the best prospects, players who gave up CL football and even a superstar in Bonucci. Fans underestimate how important respect is in transfer negotiations. The deals between Madrid Bayern; Madrid Chelsea my case in point. We didn’t overpay for a single player so far, we might on Kalinic but we all know how stubborn Fiorentina are in transfers. Given where we were, how much we spent and the players we signed it’s been a legendary… Read more »
people don’t want costa cause it’d be a 6 month loan, and then he’d go to atletico
Renato Sanchez fine, hell no to Diego Costa. He lacks discipline. Same to Carlos Bacca, cannot accept a substitution when the coach has seen another option. Falcao?? Hell no… He is past him prime. We had better not sold Lapadula.
Borini = kalinic = destro = pazzini = lapadula etc etc
If we are going to aim high, be must sign quality subs for our starting eleven. We can not only build a strong starting eleven and then sign borini as sub. BORINI?????????? Is that our quality sub? Borini is not better than lapadula.
And Kalinic?????!!! Please montella shut up. Please, not recommed any player at all. Just shut up
Go away. You lost a bet
I don’t actually think it’s Sheva. No mention of Italian bla bla. But who knows?
Sheva..sheva..did bonad10nho’s assist to cutrone vs Bayern remind u of zidane’s title winning assist to Ronaldo vs sociedad in ’03?
Diego Costa is the best choise!
Big NO to Renato – he’s a marketing product… and not what people think he is… Ancelotti wants to get rid of him!
Have you ever stopped to consider he has an overload of palyers in the smae position and thats why he wants to get rid of him
Ancelotti wants him out because he is Ancelotti. If you knew anything about him you would know that he rarely play with young players. and he rarely rotate his squad. he likes consistency and already made players. Try to take away a starting spot with ancelotti as manager and Thiago and Vidal. in midfield.
Oh yeah, kaka and pirlo say hi
Jey two players in 8 years! That is exactly what “rarely” means dude.
Yoann Gorcuff says hello… A promising youngster in late 2000’s who never even made it to the bench under Ance.
And where is he now?
I don’t know, last time he was making himself a name in Ligue 1. But when he left Milan he was too old already.
lol falcao /costa is this a joke come fassone and mirabelli you guys have done a good job just finish it up by giving us a fire force in top 9 for renato he has a roll to play cos now we qualify in europa it will be nice we have good substitue on bench not weeklow.please dont let it be those names oooo
anyone that would make us no play nyang please!!
with all this money, playng nyang and borini seems far from ideal
if we’re signing any player, he should be an upgrade. I’m not too sure about the idea of selling Bacca and buying Kalinic. if we can’t buy our original target, we are okay the way we are.
What about Benzema?
Not a option. Madrid want him to stay and he wants to stay. So he will stay at madrid. We got our chance with Morata, but he slipped away.
Costa:no falcao:no renato:yes
aside from using him as a lane to atletico, his behaviour is a big bug to montella and the entire team.
Mixed feelings for all of them for different reasons. 1. Diego Costa is without a doubt a great stricker, one of the top right now. But if it is only for 6 months, I seriously question his commitment and effort – especially given his character and his decision (?) to join Atletico asap. 2. Falcao. Strong and experienced but old and relatively inconsistent (mostly due to injuries). I wouldn’t count the entire season on him. 3. Renato Sanches. Too expensive for what he has shown so far. Potentially a diamond but with long way ahead of him. Risky choice. At… Read more »
Feel excited when reading through comment here, seeing milanistas saying no to a player of diego costas’s caliber. Imaging if this were to be in the last 3 years with uncle fester, people will jump at it even if costa is going to point a gun to montella’s head in the dressing room.
I will take all three instantly and close the market. Leave Bellotti and Auba till next season.
Let the team gel.
Costa will stay till January, I don’t expect his madness to develop before then. He will contribute immensely to the team and leave before he shows his crazy side.
Falcao is old but he can mentor our two young strikers. Huge impact he can have in a slower league too.
Renato needs no intro.
Will complete a perfect mercato.
What? All three? Thank God you are not our director of sports. No offense my friend.
Comment:pls keep bacca.
we’ve to secure new contract our preciuos youngsters at 1st place, before going to buy backups…
beware, enzo is everywere, taiola is actually juve’s sporting director, after pogba, coman, neto, khedira (all of them free) join juve, they targeting Gigio, MDS, de vrij, keita, Loca, Plizzari, Cutrone (soon) in bosman, they got our Ganz already…
I would love if we could replace bacca with falcoa . Remember that guy in form is a killer he can score 30+ goals a season sure he’s a bit old but he’s a better striker than bacca for sure . Btw belotti is not possible torino is asking way to mutch for him sure he would be the ideal striker for milan but he cost to mutch . And i think dortmund isn’t going to sell auba So only choice for a experience striker is costa’kalinic or falcou I would choose falcou if that guy is in form he’s… Read more »
@Slyfox ; YOU ARE MEAN!!! ENGLISH CAN BE WICKED
Diego Costa is a great striker, technically one the best actually. He is bad-tempered and has behavioral problems, that’s true, but is he the right choice for us despite that? I think under certain circumstances he could be. Belotti or Aubameyang would be great and ideal but with both of their clubs demanding more than 70m euros, it feels wrong to go for them, specially Belotti. Other than those two, there are not that many cheaper, world-class strikers available, but Diego Costa is probably the best of them. I think if faced with a choice between Kalinic and Costa, almost… Read more »
It seems I’m d only one that doesn’t like Costa not even cos of his attitude, I mean if u actually watch Costa u will see he’s just like bacca, poor ball control and buildup play and someone actually said he’s a world class finisher, really?OK check out his goal stats and compare to EPL strikers like aguero,Kane,lukaku..I mean aguero and Kane had injury problems last season and still scored more than this guy, even an average giroud has far more goals in his career than him at same age.u think I’m lying check it out, well thumb me down, that’s just my… Read more »
Am with u mate. He is bacca 2.0, he is not suitable for monetlla style because he can’t link play
If Renato is IN then who will be OUT? I will say YES if he is Montolivo since I prefer to keep Mauri and Locatelli in the squad. Montolivo is too often slowing the tempo.
Any one who attacks montolivo is a bastard fan of Milan or fan of Juventus. If u have love Milan show respect to its leaders. Monto is the captain of the club. If Monto is playing bad then u should try playing wit Seria D and let us see how good u are. RESPECT MILAN CAPTAIN.
U mean like how monto paid his due respect to real Milan leader seedorf?
What kind of idiot you are for saying those words to a guy who just stated that Montoloivo isn’t good enough.
Newsflash for you. He is not Milan captain anymore. Nobody respects him anymore, he is a weak minded slow midfield and hes use to us in past seasond was close to nothing. So stop insulting people for saying their opinion about a former captain. If he was any good they would never strip him of his armband.
Not sure why everyone says that it’s better to keep Barca than Kalinic. Kalinic scored more goals than Bacca last year and was on much worse team. Plus, Bacca throws a fit every time he is taken off – like a big spoiled child.
Costa is a terrific striker and that can’t be disputed.
He has behavioral issues though.
But our priority is to get a top striker and he surely fits the bill, so get him if we can’t land auba or bellotti. We need our goals and he can surely provide them.
Leave it to montella to manage him.
I believe fassobelli will eventually make the right choices but the way I see it is that as long as we’re not able to bring auba or belotti for a reasonable sum this term then we should probably focus our efforts on bringing renato in, he’s going to be vital to our future success, loan locatelli and mauri out or sell Montolivo. Cutrone, Silva and bacca will suffice and if falcao comes he would be a perfect short term solution.
1) anyone who says no to Diego Costa clearly doesn’t watch football much. He’s tall, strong, a deadly finisher and proven winner. AN angry Kalinic on steroid AND mdma if u will. Also, his temperament doesn’t stop him from scoring and winning titles, just like it ever did cantona or Pepe. He’d be perfect addition. However, he’s 100% atletico bound (there’s even a photo of him partying wearing atletico jersey for gods sake) so unless fassobelli can convince Ibra to come in January to fill costa’s shoes then I’m afraid his arrival will disrupt team continuity. 2) anyone saw Bayern… Read more »
-Out of topic-
andre silva will wear #9 shirt. Who’s that clown fella who “corrected” me sayin he’d wear #10?
If there’s no adequate attacker to replace Bacca and if Montella decides to play two up front then keep Bacca for now and pair him with Andre Silva, Niang and Cutrone as backups.
Before you attack please remember how Bacca and Niang paired well with worse players around in Mihajlović 442 formation
I repeat only if Montella plays two up front which this team now is built for – 352, 3412, 4312, 442
Ive always liked niang. I think him and mauri can be great assets for milan. His shot accuracy is still bad but if he can work on it (and his childish mentality) then he can be dangerous st (yes st, not winger) because he already has great height and physicality, pace, dribbling and technique. Maybe he wont be henry 2.0 but i think at least he can be as good as or better than kanoute. In short, yeah i think niang can be good reserve st for milan
oh I will kiss fassone and mirabelli if they sign deadly Costa for me. so happy with this news
I don’t see Belotti, Auba and any of the mentioned strikers as better than Bacca, it just that he has been playing with average players but still managed to score a decent numbers of goals given the number of games he played. Is it the Chinese money that we just want to spend, at the moment any new signing will be unnecessary .
You see nothing John Snow.
Mmmm….. I think…
Diego Costa is pretty good as a striker. He CAN scoring.
His bad attitude??? I just wondering how much damage that he will make in 6 month around…??
Not too much I guess. So, why not?
Milan should just focus on Belotti and Renato Sanchez. They are young, talented and will definitely be a better investment for now and the future. With Sanchez at Milan Montolivo and Sosa will be staying on the bench more. It is also clear Niang might not leave. I’m disappointed but maybe Montella can get the best out of him this season. If Cairo won’t lower his demands for Belotti then Costa signing would make sense especially if he is coming to Milan permanently and not on a 6months loan. He scores over 20 goals every season since his break through… Read more »
We Milan fans are niece reacting like Madrid fans..I wonder how the reaction to sign Costa Would have been during Galliani era. First, Dortmond is not ready to Sell Auba and Belloti is a risk once season wonder. Both player and are not a champion material though Auba is on pair but not a confirmed champion. Diego Costa is the perfect fit to lead Milan’s attack. I know he’s crazy but we need crazy striker to unlock stubborn italian defense especially I feel we want to take the scudetto fro my Juve… You don’t have to control great player all… Read more »
