Jorge Mendes: “André Silva can become one of the best strikers in the world, credit goes to Fassone and Mirabelli”

Jorge Mendes believes his client has everything to be the best player in Italy, but doesn’t say if he talked with Milan about Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

Milan have signed André Silva from Porto for a fee of €38m plus €2m bonuses. A deal was agreed last night during a meeting with CEO Marco Fassone & DS Massimiliano Mirabelli, and super-agent Jorge Mendes and the 21-year-old himself.

The Portugal international was at La Madonnina clinic and visited Casa Milan to sign a contract for five-year. Mendes, who also represents Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Costa, James Rodriguez and others, spoke to Sky today, and he thinks that André can be a big success in Italy.

“He’s a young player with so much quality, he can become one of the best strikers in the world, he has everything to be so,” Mendes said. “Now he plays for his national team with the best player in the history of football, CR7. André wants to learn every trick and everything else from Ronaldo.

“Having an example and role model like Cristiano, it can only do him good. He’s a hard-worker who wants to improve every day. He’s aggressive but with a lot of technique. He’ll certainly be the best in Italy in the next few years. Cristiano’s blessing? He’s very happy for André.

“Ronaldo told [André] he would play for one of the best clubs in the world and, in general, history. He has everything to succeed and he’s chosen Milan to prove what he’s capable of. We’re talking about a player who has already scored seven goals for the national team. Similar to strikers of the past? He can’t be compared with [strikers of] the past, he has his own characteristics.

“The Rossoneri fans will be very happy: I don’t remember a Milan player of recent years like him. Credit for these negotiations must be shared between Fassone and Mirabelli. At the moment, Milan are very well represented, they know what they want and it’s the first time, I believe, that we’ve had a deal with a big club without anyone else knowing anything first.

“It was only yesterday that André was already undergoing medical examinations, which shows their great professionalism. With Fassone and Mirabelli, Milan will restore their former glories. In December, 3-4 big clubs wanted Silva, but Porto were pursuing all their objectives. President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa didn’t want to sell him midseason. Eventually, fate took him to Milan.

“Diego Costa to Milan? What I talk to Milan about, I won’t tell the Press…” The media in Italy, in any case, seems to be confident that Milan will try to purchase another striker in this transfer window.

In three to four years, Milan will be the biggest and best club in the world.
Credit to Fassone and Mirabelli for these,

An old saying says,
“It is better to work with your enemies, than your friends.” (Fassone and Mirabelli are great in transfers so far)

By this time in four years time, Maldini will regret not coming back as a leader cos Milan will be bigger than he ever thought.

Great point! Where is Maldini and his big mouth now? He had been non-stop bashing this new Milan management and now he is nowhere to be heard from after this great start to the Summer Mercato! He should have accepted the role he was offered, no one starts at the top without prior management experience.

Bigger than he ever thought? The guy lift big ears trophy 5 times. What could possibly be bigger than that?
Milan 91-93 is the best club side ever and theres no way in hell current milan will be bigger than that, let alone in just 4 years
Maldini takes a stand like a real man and we all have to respect that

I dont think he refered that milan will be better than the golden era. He said Milan will be better than maldini tought milan would be with the new management but i think maldini had his own reasons for not coming. Better Mirabelli and Fassone at the club than Mancini coaching :)) I am no big fan of costa, he is talented no doubt but better bringing somebody else or stay with bacca and lapagoal. I think Lapagoal and Andre could make a good partnership 🙂

Maldini claimed to be in love with Milan,no doubt about that.however he should shut his mouth if he is a true fan (perfect example would be Baresi or Costa curta)
Its his choice not to be part of the new Milan management but have some respect for your team and just Shut it.

You should be ashamed because you are a valueless suck-up and Ingrate and Judas for such disrespect to Maldini. Maldini was not only the best defender there has been, but a man with character that speaks the truth. How is that for a value for you? Maldini only did well to question the Chinese for two things that are essential, 1. Legitimacy 2. Credibility. It’s not enough to toss the cash. Justice and fairness with respect for freedom is the best virtue. You can’t manage Milan like a dictatorship. Berlusconi never did so taking care of Milan like a father… Read more »

This is a great purchase. Mirabelli and Fassone are doing a great job. Please sign Biglia; we need a true regista and leader in our squad.

Forza milan!

I agree with that,we need biglia and I would respect it if we could also sign Costa on loan or take IBRA on free transfer this signings will give the squad huge morale am not too sure of this silver guy cos we felt same way wen bacca was signed into Milan we need a game winner like ibracatabra and a good midfielder maybe fabrigas we need some already established all ready made to help gear the squad plsss sign IBRA to at least play 45 mins

Maldini was never invited for any role during Belusconi era.He was invited under d new ownership but he turned it down.PSG also showed interest in him but there was never any offer…u can never find a perfect system to work-in and u also need to build up ur career and not just expect to be handed a director role in a big club…just my opinion anyway, dnt take it seriously

As a Milan fan, I am ashamed about our treatment to Maldini in general. Actually I find it one of the darkest pages of our history. He is the greatest person associated with Milan, yet he is treated like an enemy. (I can’t still digest that he didn’t get the farewell he deserved). Now, all this? To those who bring him in this discussion, I would say wait a bit. I like the first moves of the new management too but let’s stop acting as if we became great within few weeks. The path to the top, to Maldini’s level,… Read more »

Out of topic @Diavolo: Come on … Since Maldini does not want to join the new management milan, you then make a statement that he is NOT a true fan of Milan? An insulting statement. The first and last club he defended was Milan. Even his back number is retired, and should only be used by his son. That signifies, how much club honors from Milan to Maldini. Because even his father was a Milan player. 3 generations in one club, and you still said that he’s not a true fan of Milan. I think that you are too young… Read more »
