Gabriel Paletta’s agent says a contract renewal is strongly desired by the player but ‘Milan have other priorities’ now.
The Chinese and Milan are working on the renewals of Giacomo Bonaventura and Suso but according to the Italian media, it seems that the future owners of the Rossoneri are not as keen on the renewal of Gabriel Paletta’s contract.
Paletta returned to his former self this season and has been playing an integral part in Vincenzo Montella’s side, which last Friday beat Juve for the Supercoppa.
“He’s really happy to have won the Supercoppa Italiana. Milan had not won anything for 5 years, so it is a very important trophy for the whole club,” Paletta’s agent Martin Guastadisegno told Milannews.it on Tuesday. “Paletta is happy to have won and he’s happy with how he played against Juventus. In general, he is showing throughout the season who the real Paletta is, he’s always been strong and now the whole world can see who the real Gabriel is. He deserves everything that’s happening, because he is an incredible professional and a true man. I’m happy for him.
“The renewal? We want to renew and make a contract to stay here for long. Gabriel is only 30-year-old and he can be important for the young players, especially for the role he plays and as a central defender he can be decisive. It would be a great to stay with a long contract at Milan.
“But more about that later… Milan now have other things in mind and other priorities like the sale of the club. We’ll wait and see if we can renew the contract and this would be a great confidence boost, but it does not depend on us only.” Paletta’s current deal expires in June 2018.
