Milan announce Bonaventura and Mati Fernandez suffered muscular injuries against Empoli, will miss Crotone

A double blow for the Rossoneri who will miss Giacomo Bonaventura and Matias Fernandez at least for one game.

Milan are in a great form and after Juventus’ 3-1 defeat to Genoa yesterday, they find themselves tied with Roma in second, just four points behind the Massimiliano Allegri’s Bianconeri.

But today coach Vincenzo Montella received some bad news in the form of injuries to two of his players.

“Milan announces that Giacomo Bonaventura has suffered a first-degree strain to his left hamstring, while Mati Fernandez has suffered a first-degree strain to his right abductor. Both players will undergo further exhaminations in 7 days time,” a statement on the Diavolo’s website reads today (Monday).

Mati left the pitch on Saturday evening already after 10 minutes due to the injury but Bonaventura completed 90 minutes and was also directly responsible for Milan’s third goal of the night as his cross, which followed his terrific run from midfield, hit Empoli’s Andrea Costa and entered to his own goal.

The two will obviously miss the match against Crotone on Sunday (12:30 CET) and are also in a big doubt for the match with Roma at Stadio Olimpico on the 12th of December at 21:00 CET.

Huge opportunity for Milan in this stretch of the season.
The gap to Juve is already 4 points after their loss to Genoa.

We play Crotone while Juve go face high flying Atalanta.
Roma play Lazio.

Also after Crotone (which should be an easy win) – we enter a tough stretch with games against Roma, Atalanta and Juventus.

Will be great to get some key players rested/recovered from their niggles/knocks against Crotone for the 4 big-game stretch.

Is the Juventus match not the Supercoppa, do we not play Bologna?

Ah you’re right. Juve game is not a serie A game, like you said it’s the Supercoppa.

Cool, so Roma and Atalanta to watch out for in the next 5 game stretch.

This is BS from montella.. this is another reason why i dont like montella. He is just like Galliani, full of BS. If montella was MAN enough he would just say ” i want to rest bona” Bona isnt injuried anywhere, he just think against crotone we dont need bonaventura. Montella thinks mario poli and kucka in midfield enough. As somebody else pointed out earlier, this is OUR chance to fill up the gap. Montella does NOT see it like that. Thats why we going to see a crazy STUPID line up. Trust me on this one. Poli will 100%… Read more »

We need Bona against Roma badly because we cant gamble and the medical team must work this out as they did with Romagnoli.

Without Bona, Milan lose a lot in terms of creativity and quality. I wish them both quickest recovery.

Injury is part of every season, Montella just have to manage the situation wisely so it doesnt tell on our good run.

So this Sevilla’s manager is lying as well????? Bacca is neither a friend nor a foe of Sampaoli. Why did bacca tell him such a thing???? And why is Sampaoli telling this to the media whereby he can easily keep his mouth shut. Think about it. What is Bacca trying to do? Carlos Bacca “told us it’s not a good moment for him at Milan and it would be great to have him with us,” said Sevilla Coach Jorge Sampaoli. The striker visited his old club during the weekend and even trained with them, fuelling reports he wanted a return… Read more »

Well yeah, where is he now anyways? He wasnt even fit for Atalanta and Verona.
Lets use his countrymen as examples: Seedorf, Van Basten, Van Bommel, Stam, Rijkaard, Gulllit.
If you’re good enough, you’ll play.
And he didnt say anything about Milan. He talked about his experience in Italy in general, and when he chose to be specific he talked about Roma. Milan gave him plenty of chances.

I hope Bonaventura gets better for the Roma game. Without any injuries I believe we won’t lose in Rome. Our starting back line is one of the best in seria a . Our starting midfield isn’t bad either. Our attack is multidimensional. In the beginning it was bacca now its suso and lupadula . So I have no fear at all for that match provided the starting players are available. Let’s keep our fingers crossed

Alhaji Zeus it appears you’re a recent AC Milan fan because if you know ac Milan or Italian football in general you won’t listen to that moron Emmanuelson’s comment. George weah , maco van basten , Rudd gulit, ridkard, kaka, Shevchenko, cafu all worshipped in Milan. Florentina built a stature of Gabriel bastitua , miroslav klose talked about a person who comes to his house every morning to polish his shoes in his house for free. I don’t blame Emmanuelson it’s Milan current financial situation that made us to bring him to Italy. An incompetent footballer he is

Read in the news that we are potentially looking at Gabbiadini. WTH – why ? If you are only looking for a back-up after selling Bacca (which appears more and more likely even though I would love to keep him) – then it makes sense, but we already have Luiz as backup and Niang can play CF if need be if we can push up some quality winger to take his spot (if Lapa is injured/out for whatever reason) I really think the 25mm planning to be spent on Musacchio is better spent on strengthening the mid. Lets splash 50mm… Read more »

Gaby Paletta is in the form of his life. And we have a couple of half-decent back ups in Gomez and Zapata (for injury or suspennsion) Gaby got de-motivated when we splashed 30m on Romagnoli and left for Atalanta. We dont need to add another marquee defender for a team which this year plays only in 1 competition / once a week. Lets park the Musacchio transfer till summer. A strong midfield that can dominate possession is a big boost to defense, you all know that even if you had T Silva and Chiellini back there, and in front sit… Read more »

Oh duuude, Witsel is sooo overrated. I watched fair share of full matches, not youtoube video clips, where he played and he is nowhere close to something that we need. I think of him as weaker Kucka with better pass. If we spend 50 m. Lets add 10 more and snatch Verrati. Or go for Rakitic who is not that happy in Barcelona. To hell I would rather even take Kovacic than Axel Witsel. Badelj is a must buy, but for all other singings we will probably wait until summer

Why not bid for Victor Moses he is an upgrade of niang with higher work rate 35m would buy him, and then push niang upfront, then buy kelechi iheanacho 30m would do, he can score and he can pass plus he can play an upgraded Honda role plus suso, or better still buy victor Anichebe 15m , he is got great work rate and can torment any defense line plus he scores too and all these players are young.

Hey ladies, just heard in the dutch press, sneijder will join milan in an exchange with sosa. Would be better for Locatelli to listen and learn from sneijder. One of the best regista ever. Besides Pirlo offcourse. I personally think milan would do a good deal with this.

Milan10
Milan10

Good for him and milan, especially bacca/lapadula if its true. The fact that he’s inter legend makes it all the peachier. Imagine how pissed off those garbage would be if he scores winning goal from direct free kick in next derby della madonnina.
I dont hes natural regista like cocu, van bommel, strootman or rijkaard though. To me he’s classic 3/4ista

Pfffff that would be awesome.

The best regista ever was also a trequartista. Ancelotti tried Pirlo then as a regista and it worked out. Sneijder has the same characteristics.

I hope this deal goes through.

Being a dutch footballer, im sure he can play as regista, he even played as LW in last few holland matches i believe.
I gotta disagree on 1 thing though. pirlo is a legend in his own right but to me rijkaard is the best regista ever. The guy could dribble, defend, spread the ball like legit playmaker, even score. No way he wouldve gotten dominated by xavi and co. The way pirlo did. Guys like redondo, yaya toure, vieira, davids, keane and xabi would cut off their left nuts to be just as good as him

Yes Moses is in the best form of his life now and he is not injury prone plus his release Clause from wigan was 8m and I don’t think it would be more than 20m now, so 35m or less would be tempting and unrefusable.
