Poli recovers in time for the Udinese game, expected to be given starting role alongside Sosa and Montolivo

Vincenzo Montella seems to have decided to keep the 4-3-3 and will play Giacomo Bonaventura in attack so that leaves room for a fit Andrea Poli in the midfield.

There were reports that with Juraj Kucka and M’Baye Niang both suspended for the Udinese match, coach Montella considers switching to 4-4-2 with Carlos Bacca and Gianluca Lapadula in attack.

But the recent news suggest that Montella will be sticking to 4-3-3 and have Giacomo Bonaventura take Niang’s role with Suso and Bacca completing the attack.

In midfield, Riccardo Montolivo will play in the regista role and will have Jose Sosa on his side. The two, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Italia’s Peppe Di Stefano, will be joined by Andrea Poli who is now fully fit after suffering from a muscle strain; he’s preferred over Mario Pasalic.

There is no decisive word on whether Gustavo Gomez or Gabriel Paletta will play alongside Alessio Romagnoli, although today’s Gazzetta gives the edge to the Argentine-born Italian.

Poli? I suppose to do the dirty work and chase down the opposition when they have the ball. Hopefully, Monto will have one of those rare days and put a smile on Milanistas faces. As far as Sosa is concerned, I have no doubt over Prinicipito’s talent or industry.

Well, the coach is the one who knows what he’s doing, i trust that he has his reasons for choosing Poli and remaining in 4-3-3…hoping for the win this weekend and building off of that Bournemouth win! FORZA MILAN!

Poli looked alright in the warm up games, but he looked really bad when he was switch to the rb…I hope Monti don’t switch him to rb during this game bcuz he looks really uncomfortable playing at rb.

Why are we continuing to play a 3 man midfield. I don’t understand. We don’t have a regista for crying out loud. 2 man midfield in a 4 2 3 1 or 4 4 2 please!!!

There is nothing wrong with d 433 once d wingers can fall back to help d defence! And honestly I like poli of d right, n sosa on d left wit montolivo as regista, dias enough ruggedness to compliment monto’s slow pace! And I’m sure bona will track back to help, we can introduce lapadula n pasalic when d opponents are tired to open dia defence!
