Romagnoli expected to play as a left back, Locatelli to make his first start, Bacca on the bench against Roma?

Manuel Locatelli, Andrea Poli and Alessio Romagnoli are all tipped to make starts tomorrow but the former Roma man will apparently be fielded in a new role.

Milan find themselves fighting for a place in next year’s Europa League on the last matchday of the 2015/16 season and tomorrow (Saturday) they host Roma who they will have to beat while hoping Inter take points from Sassuolo.

However even if Milan fail to get back to 6th tomorrow they will still have a chance to be in Europe next season but for that to happen they’ll have to cause a big upset and beat reigning champions Juventus in the Coppa Italia final next Saturday night at the Olimpico Stadium in Rome.

And if the probable XI’s reported in the press on Friday evening are any indication then it seems as though Cristian Brocchi has more hopes of beating Juventus than finishing in 6th. According to Milannews.it & Gazzetta.it, Brocchi is planning to keep the 4-3-1-2 but there will be several changes.

Ignazio Abate wasn’t included in the squad but while Mattia De Sciglio was and is fit, it seems as though Alessio Romagnoli is preferred over him to start on the left side of the defense (first time this season) with Davide Calabria on the other side & Philippe Mexes-Cristian Zapata in the middle.

Riccardo Montolivo experienced the birth of a daughter this week and didn’t train normally so he could start the match from the bench with Manuel Locatelli playing in his place. The 18-year-old is expected to be joined by Juraj Kucka and Andrea Poli who is favourite over Jose Mauri. Luiz Adriano will apparently play alongside Mario Balotelli with Carlos Bacca benched / rested.

Probable XI (Gazzetta.it): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Davide Calabria, Mexes, Cristian Zapata, Romagnoli; Juraj Kucka, Manuel Locatelli, Andrea Poli; Keisuke Honda; Luiz Adriano, Mario Balotelli.

“I want to stay as coach for next season and more” –> “ill play young slow cb as lb” : milan logic

If de sciglio is that untrustworthy then broccoli should play zapata as lb because 1) hes fastest cb milan have. 2) that way this tickling mistake-time bomb wont play as cb

Well to be feir, Alessio have played as a left back many times in rome. Zapata has not. Zapata is right footed and cant provide crosses with his left. Thats the same story with Mattia. He is a right back. Many cant seem to understand this.

In the 4312 formation its highly important to have FB able to make crosses as they Are the only wide players in the formation.

Zapata cant cross with his right foot either but at least hes fast. Putting slow cb like roma in lb will seriously tamper his style of play and effectiveness. Its like putting lethal striker like van basten on right wing

Yep, and u rate him in that way? Roma is not that good…
And we dont realy have a better option for this match. I dont blame brocci for this change. atleast for this match where we simply have no other options. at this moment we only have 1 left back in Antonelli. So the rage on brocci is wrong imo. We could all say that de sciglio should play, but we will only get back here after the match and blame him anyhow. thats what people do on this blog iguess.

Yes but at least de sciglio is natural full back. Why play zapata in the most important position of football team at the expense of proven cb, roma? My back line for this match would be: calabria – mexes – roma – de sciglio

This scheme will not work. It would be bether to come back to 4 3 2 1 against both Roma and Juve..The strikers are not receiving assistence and Milan are often loosing MF battles.

AC Milan has become a football lab where rookie coaches do experiments and fail. It must work or else this guy will face serious media attack.
