Tassotti: “Milan without Berlusconi almost inevitable, De Sciglio has to take more responsibility”

Mauro Tassotti doesn’t think about a future as a head coach at Milan and insists De Sciglio needs to show more character ‘to bring Milan out of this mediocrity’.

Tassotti left his position as an assistant coach this season since now-former coach Sinisa Mihajlovic brought his own staff and Mauro’s new position is monitoring the players that are on loan from Milan (especially the young players).

Tassotti has experienced pretty much everything with the Rossoneri as he joined the club in 1980 and hasn’t really left since. Now, he’s watching the situation as somewhat of an outsider for the first time in years.

“The season? It’s not over yet so it seems premature to say,” Tassotti told Milannews.it this week. “Things haven’t gone well in Serie A, but we are still in the Coppa Italia Final. The work of Brocchi? It’s absurd to evaluate the work of a Coach over three or four games, so we have to wait.

“There are still two games. The work of Mihajlovic? I was outside at the time, but it looked to me as if Mihajlovic had done a decent job. The squad recognized him as a leader and he was respected both in the locker room and by our fans. Nobody expected our position in the table, including him.

“Would I like to be Milan Coach? The club didn’t think of me when I was assistant manager, so in all honesty I am not thinking about it either. Roberto Donadoni (who is one of the names Milan are looking at for next season)? He has all the characteristics to lead a big club. He was at Milan for many years and has the right profile for this team, but the club will make a decision in a few months.

“Mattia De Sciglio (who grew up in Milan’s youth sector)? He has all the qualities to be the fullback of Milan for many years and he has yet to show his character. It’s always difficult when things are not going well but he has to take some more responsibility. It’s not enough for him to do his own job, he must start taking some responsibility to bring Milan out of this mediocrity.

“The possible sale? It is a delicate moment and there is this presumed handing over of ownership, so we just have to wait. I have been at Milan for many, many years and this season I was a bit out of the loop, so had a rest. The fans must have patience, because the last few years were tough.

“But we mustn’t forget the victories of the past. Milan without Berlusconi? I think it’s something that could happen, even if he has been at the helm for a long time. It becomes something almost inevitable and it seems to me his comments point towards that too.”

Unai Emery!!

Manga la Figa

Well Silvio is gonna die at some point so might as well leave his kids something right? If reports are correct he’ll gain $700 mil when he sells all his shares. That’s a hella gain. I remember when he bought the club he paid what was rumored to be about something equivalent to about 20mil euros. The figure was never made public. And all the bs about him spending about 1 nil on Milan of his personal money is complete bs as I said. The club was profitable up to about 7-8 years ago. He did spend mind you but… Read more »
