Nigel De Jong has already emptied his locker and is ready to make a move to the Major League Soccer.

De Jong had just signed a contract extension with the Rossoneri in June but is ready to wave goodbye to the red and blacks and make the transition to the US.

According to multiple sources in the MLS and also Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the negotiation between De Jong and LA Galaxy is almost completed there are just a few bureaucratic matters to address.

De Jong joined Milan in 2012 and up until this season was a key player in midfield. However, coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has barely used him this term and De Jong has now decided to leave. The move is expected to be made official in the next days as Nigel has already emptied his locker at Milanello and said goodbye to his friends who will step on the San Siro pitch for the Derby very soon.

The former Manchester City man is ready to join Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole at Galaxy. Antonio Nocerino could be also heading to the MLS with Kaka’s Orlando City interested in his services.

Thanks for that Derby win 2014. You were a great player but somehow Milan and you were never a real match. You joined in 2012-13 and we were struggling in first half of season. You got injured for rest of the season and we scored more points than anyone in league except Juve at that time. You were our top player for last two seasons and those were Milan’s worst two seasons. This season, after you were dropped we have been playing much better. Anyways, good luck in MLS

Farewell nigel dejong, though you are not a great like their seedorf, gattuso and many others who have roamed the midfield of this great club in times past, you still were a rossoneri, and you wore the red and black with dedication and courage. I wish you well in all your future endeavors

Paul

when things were going wrong ,u stood up and give your best with dedication and commitment.i read a lot of comments saying you are not up to our standard but I disagree because u were just not lucky. the coaches and your team mates are rather not up to the standard which really affected your playing. in a nutshell ,I say salute. we love you and we’ll forever love you. wish you the best in your endeavour.

NDJ,

This is sad because no one can ever question your heart and work ethic. However, you were limited with talent and an enormous club like Milan should have never expected you to carry the team, match to match. You would be a great role player on a great club. But Milan- strapped for cash- needed the current roster of players to go far beyond their capabilities if they were ever to gain a European spot. Milan was low on talent and pushed you up the ladder, or off the plank.

Best of luck. Timing just unfortunate.

Milan

Goodbye the General.Thank you for everything.

Cant believe we keep poli and bertolacci and sell de jong. thats crazy

BonaZona

Andrea doesn’t absorb as much money as Nigel, plus Poli is more versatile (Though, I am not saying he is better, De Jong is superior) but Poli would fit all over midfield incase someone was injured. Bertolacci though. has been showing glimpses of something bright, only lacking in consistency (So are the most Milan players) as well as, bertolacci still has a lot of time on his hand. BTW do not mistake what I said as an attack against De Jong, I absolutely love him. He was there for us when we struggled and led by example. A player of… Read more »
