Roberto Soriano and Axel Witsel are no longer the primary targets as Milan are now interested in João Moutinho and Asier Illarramendi, it is stated.

Milan completed the signing of Mario Balotelli from Liverpool on Tuesday as the player underwent the medical check-ups and already trained with his new-old team (the official announcement has yet to be made for unknown reasons).

As reported by the Italian press, on Tuesday there was a meeting between Galliani and Mihajlovic and the next and final mercato mission is to find a midfielder to improve the quality of the problematic department.

Sky and Gazzetta are reporting that Roberto Soriano is no longer considered a priority (Berlusconi has apparently played a part in the decision to stop the talks). Sky claims that Napoli have stepped up and are offering €12 million plus Zuniga for the player who was requested by coach Sinisa.

It’s also reported on Sky that Axel Witsel is unlikely to move to Milan and Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Juventus have now contacted Zenit to discuss the player whose agents pushed for a Rossoneri move in the last few weeks. Milan never really confirmed their interest in the Belgian midfielder but his (many) representatives claimed that the Diavolo have been keen on signing him.

Sky reports that the new targets for midfield are Monaco’s Moutinho and Real Madrid’s Illarramendi. Milan have made first inquires about both players. Illarramendi seems destined to return to Real Sociedad but the good relations between the clubs could play in Milan’s advantage again. As for Moutinho, it remains to be seen if Monaco are willing to sell him despite missing out on UCL.

Gazzetta also confirmed contacts with Madrid for Illarramendi. Sky meanwhile reports that Milan contacted Erik Lamela’s agent on Tuesday but talks are advanced between the player and Inter.

Moutinho would be a great signing. But why not go for Draxler? I would say go for Gundogan too but he recently signed a 5 year deal and is going to be a part of BVB’s future. BUT DRAXLERR, my god, that would make any Milan fan weep with joy

So with Illa going to Real Soc, and Moutinho injured and no longer an option, we’re back to square one. Berlusconi and Galliani are stuck in their ways. They keep thinking that signing big name players/expensive players is all you need to succeed. I guess they are not wrong but you need to have stupid amounts of money and even then we’ve seen the likes of PSG, Chelsea, and Real Madrid to name but a few where success (CL Champions) does not come as frequently as you’d expect. I don’t think the ratio of money spent/result is worth it. Now… Read more »
