Mihajlovic wants another midfielder and the Sampdoria man could be an option as there are difficulties in signing Zenit’s Axel Witsel.
The market is of Milan is over, at least for now, but the press and the fans expect them to make one or two more signings before the end of the market and if they can’t get Ibrahimovic then a midfielder could be the only additional arrival.
Witsel has been on Milan’s mind for quite some time but they are reluctant at this point to match Zenit’s €35m valuation of the Belgian and are studying alternatives.
As reported by Alfredo Pedulla of Sportitalia last night and La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Milan are now in pole position for Sampdoria midfielder Roberto Soriano. A phone call between Adriano Galliani and Samp President Massimo Ferrero took place and this – adding to the fact that Soriano worked with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic last season – puts Milan in front of Napoli and Juve.
Soriano, 24, would cost Milan €10 million (his release clause) and that is of course considerably less than what Witsel, 26, would. It remains to be seen what Milan will do from now until August 31st.
Why cant Milan get big names?
Big names sell shirts. Team players win games. We’ve had too many useless big names recently: Balotelli, Essien, Torres, Robinho, Ronaldinho, Pato, etc. Mihajlovic knows Soriano from Sampdoria. I am hopeful that we are building a well structured team.
Povero Milan.
Soria what?…I don’t understand Milan no more,so much untrusted players in the squad and we don’t know how to deal with them yet,and now..another one?
Miha knows him from Sampdoria.
Soriano? Those guys must be smoking skunk… My younger bro even plays better than him. *Rethink old man!
Mastour is better than dis guy!
This will be yet another unbelievably stupid move by Milan if they buy Soriano. We already have midfielders of his caliber; Poli is probably even better than Soriano. Witsel is the type of midfielder we need….35 million for a player of his level is not ridiculous at all, that’s marginally more than we paid for Romagnoli.
Man..reading these comments, it’s like testament of mankind’s shortcomings. Swear a lot of you boys would’ve killed yourself if you were an arsenal fan.. anyway Raiola says Ibra won’t move this summer, dunno if it means something, but if it’s true i guess Witsel would come.. As for CAM, like it or not the plan is to tryout if Menez could fit the bill. There are 2 league games that we’ll play before the deadline, so the rest of our mercato will also be influenced by how we perform on those games, and i expect business as usual on deadline… Read more »
Soriano played very well last season which led to National team call up, but, we cannot judge him with one season
THANK YOU FOR BEING FIRST PERSON WITH REASONABLE COMMENT!!!
And Miha knows him.
Comment:we dont need ibra
at least he doesn’t have to adapt to a new environment and tactical approach. even people are against paletta when he was joining milan. but, now they want him to stay. mihajlovic know the man and also know what the team needs.
Soriano is a quality player. He plays very well with the attackers. Saw him against Juventus three seasons ago, with team mates Mauro Icardi and Eder, beat the Old Lady. He did well last season; plays much like Axel. Can play behind the attackers. Right now we don’t have any player who can do that. €10m for such a player is cheap. But, we still need a holding midfielder.
Totally agreed. For those who think Soriano is an average player well maybe you should watch serie a and not just Milan.
I prefer Soriano to Witsel who is highly overpriced and has no experience in Serie A. We do need a holding midfielder maybe Ramierez from Chelsea or Javi Martinez from Bayern Munich. De Jong is not a holding midfielder by the way. He is more like Gattuso and not Van Bommel.
Ramires isnt either a holding midfielder, he us more box-to-box. A holding midfielder ive been a fan of for a while is Luiz Gustavo.
Before we start to comment about milan transfer target, we should know which direction mihajlovic wants to take us to. Based from pre season i still don’t know which direction our midfield is going for. Whether it’s going to be well-organized and compact like sampdoria or beautiful football like roma. But from our transfer targets, i think sampdoria type of play is the most relevant option i guess. So I think we wouldn’t see players like gundogan, goetze, draxler, isco and most of the name that you guys mentioned on this blog coming because they don’t fit our plan and most importantly… Read more »
We need to buy CM/AMC 1a.Axel Witsel 1b.Matteo Kovacic and LB 2a. Fabio Coentrao 2b. Jose Luis Gaya (valencia). But if I’m the boss i’ll go for Kovacic and JL Gaya.
I prefer Kovacic to Witsel/sorinao
Hey guys what do you think of Gustavo I believe he would rebuild our midfield as he is a beast with excellent skills on the ball.
how many genuine world class players do we currently have at ac Milan?
