Philippe Mexes has said Silvio Berlusconi wanted a win against Inter after the Frenchman scored an amazing goal yesterday.
After losing to Lyon, Milan grabbed their first actual pre-season win, beating Inter 1-0 at the Longgang Stadium in China.
The victory arrived thanks to Mexes’ moment of brilliance in the 62′ minute and even coach Sinisa Mihajlovic who reportedly didn’t want Mexes to stay at the club, couldn’t help but smile.
“It also takes luck to score a goal like that. Beyond the goal, I am satisfied because we got a good result and it was confirmed that Milan are growing,” Mexes is quoted as saying on the Turin-based newspaper, Tuttosport, this morning (Sunday). “It’s also a positive sign that we got a clean sheet for the first time after three friendlies.
“Wearing this shirt is always an honour, a pride that is unmatched. I’m glad to have helped. We beat Inter in the first derby of the season and that’s something Prime Minister Berlusconi was very keen on.”
