Preziosi: “I’d love to have El Shaarawy back at Genoa, I’ll talk to Galliani”

A joke, or perhaps a clear declaration of intent? Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has said he wants Stephan back and is sorry he can’t buy Niang.

Milan spent a significant amount of money to buy El Shaarawy from Genoa but the last two seasons have been terrible for him as he’s mostly injured and never again found the 2012-13 form that made him one of the most eye-catching youngsters in the football world.

El Shaarawy has been linked with all sorts of clubs in the past two years, from Arsenal and Borssuia Dortmund to Torino and Genoa. Now the Rossoblù President has claimed – perhaps jokingly – that he wants to bring back the 22-year-old who grew up at his club.

“I’d like to have El Shaarawy back in my team. I’ll talk with Galliani today,” Enrico Preziosi, who has a fantastic relationship with Galliani, said to the press on Friday noon before adding: “Niang? An excellent signing. Shame he only joined us on a ‘dry’ loan (with no option to buy him out).”

El Shaarawy is currently injured and could return next month. Niang meanwhile is set to return to Milan next season – just like Alessandro Matri, Valter Birsa and Antonio Nocerino among others.

Doesn’t matter because it won’t happen. El shaarawy has no intention of playing for Genoa.
