Riccardo Saponara has left Milan to join his previous club Empoli, it has been confirmed on Friday.
Milan signed Saponara in the summer of 2013, saying he reminded them of Kaka and gave him Rino Gattuso’s (and Antonio Nocerino’s) #8 shirt but he never seemed to be part of the plans of either Massimiliano Allegri, Seedorf or Inzaghi.
“Empoli FC announces the acquisition on loan with the right of redemption of the player Riccardo Saponara. The player thus returns to Empoli after leaving the club at the end of the 2012-13 season,” a statement on the website Azzurri reads on Friday.
Representatives of Saponara and Empoli met earlier today and an agreement was reached. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who was tried out as a box-to-box midfielder with Inzaghi, is returning to Empoli where he played between the years 2010 and 2013.
This Saponara exit allows Milan to complete the January signing of Suso from Liverpool and this could happen in the next days.
Mbia and Witsel in! Either one of them will add much needed quality to our midfield!
I’m very afraid that inzaghi will prefer muntari, essien, poli over suso and he will not get any chance of play….. actually it probably will happen…inzaghi wake tf up you got an excellent player coming your way
He’ll never play for Milan.
Like Merkel.
we should have used him for Baselli
Suso coming in will give Inzaghi options in the attacking , He only use Essien asa backup cuz we have no one else to use
Baselli will probably come anyways towards the end of the season.
Essien is linked to Arsenal and the UAE.
Siqueira and Guerreiro are linked to Milan. And Mbia is also linked to Milan. Mbia is 29 though.
Suso coming to milan?? I only hope he does not turn out to be another vankiel good but will not be used. Inzaghi!!!! Wake up stop using dead woods in your team
I’m jealous of Empoli having our talented players Saponara and Verdi in midfield while we’re stuck with Muntari, Essien and Poli
