Saponara: “I’m ready to start again, Hellas a tough side”

RICCARDO SAPONARA trained with the group but knows he needs to work hard to get space.

Saponara underwent key-hole surgery on his left knee on September 16th and like Ignazio Abate and Giacomo Bonaventura, he spent today’s training session with the squad. It remains to be seen if Sapo will return already this Sunday.

“It was a bad injury and it scared me a lot but once Doctor Tavana had stabilized the ligaments I was more reassured. Subsequent examinations have confirmed this diagnosis and fortunately it was something milder than expected,” Saponara told the Milan Channel on Sunday afternoon.

“I have done a good stint in rehab and now I’m ready to start again. I was very sorry not to be there at Empoli and Cesena. Empoli in particular since it had been my home for years and I have friends at Cesena so I would have liked to have played. I have to look forward, think about Verona and have a good week of training to convince the coach to select me.

“I liked what the coach has said about me especially as I’ve not been able to train. This gives me great confidence. It’ll be a difficult match at Verona because they are a tough side. If we can play our game then we can bring home three points.”

In all honesty.. I am not expecting anything super from this guy.. I have watched his development critically and putting him side by side with Cristante in Comparison. I don’t think this Saponara guy is ready for the first team. I will take Mastour in the first team over Saponara any day, anytime, and anywhere. I think this guy actually thinks he’s better than he is. We really should have kept Cristante and sold this guy off instead. Huge Mistake by Inzaghi and Galliani.. If no one believes me, let’s wait till he’s completely back from his injury and gets… Read more »

i agree that mastour is more ready for the first team. but he’s a forward and has to compete with SES, menez, honda, bonaventura, and niang. there is no room for him to play. while saponara can play as a CM and only compete with poli, monty, essien, muntari, and maybe bonaventura. looks easier right?

Well, I will quickly point out to you that I wasn’t basing my comment on who should play or who shouldn’t. I was only pointing out that.. Saponara ain’t ready for the BIG LEAGUES..!

Dude, are you serious? Sapo is ahead of cristante and #98 in terms of current ability. What they have on him is potential. Did you see him at empoli? Do your comparisons and research well.

Oh really.. At Empoli??? What did he do there? I am judging him based on what I have seen him do here at Milan.. Absolutely nothing….! And you think Saponara is ahead of Cristante.. Dude, seriously?????

There was no offer for saponara. And I agree it’s a waste of space in milan team. Muntari, essien can be bad but they are still miles ahead of him
