MARCO VAN GINKEL has completed his move to Milan and will be spending the 2014/15 season wearing red and black.

After Fernando Torres, another player arrives from Chelsea to strengthen the team of Filippo Inzaghi as Wulfert Cornelius “Marco” Van Ginkel signed the papers and passed the Rossoneri medical and is the latest addition to the Milan squad.

The 21-year-old took some time to decide whether to accept Milan’s offer or stay at Chelsea and convince Jose Mourinho but after talking to Nigel De Jong and to Torres, the player said ‘yes’ to the Diavolo and joins on a one-year loan deal.

“Marco van Ginkel has today joined AC Milan on a season-long loan,” a statement on Chelsea’s website reads today. The Rossoneri won’t have an option to buy-out Van Ginkel. Milan will reportedly pay €0.4m to take Van Ginkel on loan and if he plays less than 20 games, they will add an additional €0.2m to the deal. But, if he plays more than 20 games, Milan will only add €0.1m (other sources actually indicate that if the Dutchman plays more than 20 games, Milan won’t pay for him).

Van Ginkel landed in Italy last night and this morning he did all the tests and signed the contract. “I am very happy. Milan is a great club where many Dutch players have played and some big names,” Van Ginkel said upon arriving. “I know Nigel De Jong from my experiences with the National team, I spoke to him about Milan and he said excellent things about the club.

“I’ll see De Jong soon. I’m a midfielder that defends but I also know how to score goals. I play all across the park. I want to become an important squad member, I’m a team player and I want to meet the coach. Like I said before, I am happy to be here. I want to get game time and I think that I will have the chance to play at Milan in a great league against strong sides.

“This is the objective for the season. I haven’t as yet spoken to coach Inzaghi but I have spoken to Fernando Torres this week. He’s a good lad.” Van Ginkel, like Torres, might debut vs. Parma. It remains to be seen what number he’ll choose.

  1. i was so happy with our win yesterday . just to feel down again today with transfers
zaccardo leaving was my dream come true.
hope the last minute see bonera out for good and with a huge price so we could remember him with one good thing.
again we let go someone young for nothing and because of nothing. essien would have been better.
and if van ginkel is leaving by the end of the season. then cristante left for nothing, and we are left in vein.
my wish for this season is to be competitve , transfers are done I GUESS but now i hope that the players give there all and get us up there with the top 3

  2. we made 2 great mistakes. i would understand loaning Cristante but selling him? seriously? we needed young players not overrated old men. Essien, van Ginkel i prefer Cristante to both of them. we always make the same mistake we always underrate our youngsters. Darmian, Aubameyang, Palosci, Astori, Cristante, Pacifico, Lotti… and instead of giving Cristante experience we give van Ginkel who won’t be playing for us next year. we finally got rid of Zaccardo but we still need to get rid of several other players: Essien, Gabriel(just loan), Mexes, Albertazzi and Pazzini. we also need to sign one great striker like Destro/J.Martinez/G.Rossi. and i would prefer having Taarbt to Biabiany.

  3. Milan now should get Serigo Roberto and Doria. These are very promising players and maybe next year they could be startup players.

  4. Selling Cristante will make sense if we land Suso on loan with the option to buy, which is the rumor thats going around. Suso has shown much more promise, IMHO.

  5. why’re you guyz blaming galliani this is what christante said ”As reported by Sky, it was Cristante who requested to be transferred as he feared he won’t have much playing time this season and also wants to play in the Champions League”.

  6. I dnt knw why Galliani have to sell Cristante I prefer a loan deal for him than permanent sales, but I wish him best of luck.
