FILIPPO INZAGHI has confidence in Saponara and Niang and does not want to see them go.
The American Tour was far from a success but it seems that coach Inzaghi got some answers to his questions and has apparently been convinced by Riccardo Saponara and M’Baye Niang thanks to their pre-season performances.
Saponara didn’t play a lot last season under Massimiliano Allegri and Clarence Seedorf while Niang returned this summer after a loan spell at Montpellier. Galliani had already told Niang to find a new team but Inzaghi rediscovered the Frenchman who did well in the 2014 edition of the Guinness ICC and against C.D. Guadalajara.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan rejected loan offers for Niang and Saponara from Parma and Empoli respectively. The reason for the rejection is a phone call between Adriano Galliani and Inzaghi that took place yesterday, in which the Rossoneri boss reaffirmed his confidence in the two. “Saponara? Milan want to keep him. If the player were on the market we would’ve come forward because we hold him in great esteem,” Empoli’s director of sport Marcello Carli said yesterday. “The return of Saponara? It’s an unlikely option. If there is a chance then it could reveal itself at the end of the market,” added Empoli’s coach Maurizio Sarri. Saponara, 22-year-old, is played by Inzaghi in a midfield role these days.
Niang, Saponara, Inzaghi and the entire squad is back in Italy after the Canada & USA Tour ended. Inzaghi will travel to Forte dei Marmi over the weekend to speak to Galliani about the experience in the American continent and the mercato.
