ADIL RAMI is officially a player of Milan despite last night’s problem and controversy: the Frenchman has got his wish.
The long saga is finally over and at last Milan and Valencia have reached an agreement over the transfer of the defender Adil Rami, who also played a big part in the negotiations, agreeing to reduce his wages in order to facilitate a move.
It was a long case with many ups and downs but the important thing for Milan and Rami is that they will continue to be together. Adil started playing for the Rossoneri in January (he had been training with them since October) and fell in love.
Yesterday it seemed as though the talks have collapsed and Rami even tweeted that at the moment it’d be difficult for him to stay and that he has to train with Valencia. However, an agreement was reached last night between the two sides, and Rami, 28-years-old, put pen to paper on Saturday morning and is now tied to the red and black shirt until the year of 2017.
“AC Milan would like to communicate that it has bought Adil Rami from Valencia CF. Rami has signed a contract with the club until the 30th June 2017,” a statement on Milan’s website reads today. The deal that was agreed between the Italian and Spanish clubs is the following: €4.25m will be paid to Valencia in 3 installments. Milan in fact offered Valencia €3.75 mil and so Rami agreed to take a €0.5m pay cut to bridge the gap between the two sides and make his wish come true.
This is an important move for Milan as Rami was their best defender in the second part of the season. Adil, who will keep his #13 shirt, will be playing at the heart of Filippo Inzaghi’s defense alongside Alex, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain.
