Milan supposed to have 9 representatives in the World Cup games this summer in Brazil, which start on June 12th, but Riccardo Montolivo’s tibia injury has made him miss out on the tournament (he’ll only be available again in 5 to 6 months).

The Rossoneri will be represented by 8 players that will play for five different national teams, all in hope of surprising the universe and winning the most prestigious title in the world. Eight Milan men will be in Brazil and fight for their countries.

Cesare Prandelli, the coach of Italy, called up 23 players for the World Cup, including three Milan players: Mattia De Sciglio and Mario Balotelli are expected to be starters in Brazil while Ignazio Abate will most likely be the back-up right back in case of an injury to Matteo Darmian (a Milan youth prospect). Italy are in Group D with Uruguay, Costa Rica and England.

Eight Milan players in the World Cup

Netherlands are in Group B with reigning champions Spain, Chile and Australia; coach Louis Van Gaal will rely on Milan’s defensive midfield Nigel De Jong. The 1999 Milan Scudetto winner Alberto Zaccheroni has chosen Keisuke Honda to be part of his 23-man Japan squad to take to Brazil and they are in Group C with Côte d’Ivoire, Greece and Colombia. Cristian Zapata is obviously in the same group as Colombia boss José Pékerman picked the defender to be on the squad list.

il Diavolo have two players representing Ghana as both Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien have been picked by James Kwesi Appiah and they are in Group G with Portugal, Germany and Unisted States. So who will be the World Cup winner?
