Rami: “I have great desire to play, I want to help Milan”

ADIL RAMI has said he focuses on doing well at Milan and not on France and has revealed he’s inspired by Nesta.

Milan made two signings in this January mercato but both players were signed before the transfer season even began. After Keisuke Honda was presented to the press on Wednesday at Stadio San Siro, today was the turn of Adil Rami.

The French center back, who is at Milan on a six-month loan with an option to be bought from Valencia, sat in the press room in Milanello, where he’s been training for the past few months with il Diavolo, and spoke about his objectives.

“I feel very good, I’m lucky to be here at an enormous club. It was a big ambition of mine to come here,” said Rami, 28-year-old. “Objectives? To win, the ambition is to win, I’m still young as a player and this is a big step forward for me. The national team? Milan can help me, it’s a big club. I want to earn a place here and then I hope I’ll be able to play for France.

“I’m getting on well with everybody, it has been easy to integrate with the others, the club have helped me a lot in this respect, I’m an open person and that has helped a lot. Kevin Constant and I have been friends since childhood, we grew up in the same neighborhood, Constant started early as a professional and to find him again here at Milan is a pleasure. Philippe Mexes? I have great desire to play; Allegri will decide with whom I play. I have a great understanding with Mexes.

“Mexes and I played together in the national team and we get along well both on and off the pitch. I think that I have everything to give my contribution to Milan, I want to help this team become more competitive. The #13 shirt? I chose it as it was up to me, and because I was always inspired by Alessandro Nesta as a player, he had great class, he gave his all and it’s a pleasure to have his number. Valencia? I’d rather not talk about it. My career? I used to be a car mechanic and now I’m in one of the best clubs in the world. It’s really crazy,” continued Rami, who previously also played for Fréjus and Lille.

“The Serie A? I have only followed it from afar and I’ve not really played it yet, once I have played more I will be able to answer. I have seen Pogba who has great potential. My debut against Atalanta? It was a pleasant surprise, the welcome of the fans. It’s an extra source of motivation for me to show the club what I can do and that they did well to bring me here.

“The situation of the team? There is willingness and there is enthusiasm in the dressing room to get out of this situation. Starting against Sassuolo on Sunday? I have to make my full debut at some point, I can’t wait to get out there and help the team and hopefully as soon as possible. The World Cup? First of all, I have to play well at Milan and then if I do well I might be called up for the World Cup. I think of one thing at a time. Atletico Madrid (Milan’s opponents in the Champions League Round of 16)? I know the team well, they have a lot of personality, and are combative, strong and fast just like their coach.

“Keisuke Honda? I don’t know him well yet, he speaks English and I don’t, so speaking is hard at the minute. He sits near me in the changing room though and we do exchange the odd word when we’re able to. Why I chose Milan? Milan is Milan, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world where players like Nesta and Maldini played. I never considered other teams.”

Rami came on to replace Cristian Zapata in the 83′ minute against Atalanta in the 3-0 victory on Monday. It remains to be seen if he’ll play from the start on Sunday but like Honda, he’ll surely be on the squad list for the game against Sassuolo.

I think at the moment is zapata-bonera. Yes bonera has late-bloomer quality. I dont know about rami, as probably he wil need some times to adapt in italian games.

pazzo_my_love

Er, Bonera….? Because of one great match against Inter?

nattimalta

rami will be milans next best defender after silva nesta departure

Milan fan

Nice to have him in the squad but I think we some young talented players like Doria ect ect…..a due that can play together for 10 years or so. Rami is already 28.

Melvin..

Yah but id like to see someone like silva back at Milan.. At the moment the back four are too shack with mexes but bonera brings a calming sense so maybe a Starting lineup of Zapata-Bonera till the end of the season?
