Official: Zaccardo joins Milan, Mesbah-Strasser to Parma

CRISTIAN ZACCARDO has joined Milan who sent Djamel Mesbah and Rodney Strasser (loan) to Parma.

Milan have completed their first signing of this January transfer market and said goodbye to two more players after selling Alexandre Pato to Corinthians and loaning Mattia Valoti to Lega Pro side Albinoleffe.

Milan tried to bring Kaka from Real Madrid for days but couldn’t afford such move so they moved back to their targets in Italy and today they officially announced the signing of Parma’s defender Cristian Zaccardo.

Berlusconi: “Kaka and Balotelli too expensive for Milan”

“A.C. Milan wish to communicate the signing of Cristian Zaccardo from Parma FC,” the Milan statement reads. Zaccardo had his medical check-ups on Friday and signed a 4.5 year contract with the Rossoneri. The 31-year-old center back / right back who won the World Cup in 2006 will reportedly earn €900k a year.

Milan signed Zaccardo in exchange for Djamel Mesbah. The Algerian left back who was struggling for space at Milan. The Rossoneri have also given the Primavera product Rodney Strasser to Parma on loan. The statement confirms: “and the sale and loan of Djamel Mesbah and Rodney Strasser respectively, to the same club.” Mesbah is currently in the African Cup of Nations: he will return to Italy, but to a different city.

Zaccardo has arguably been Parma’s most consistent players in recent years and he’ll give experience to a rather young Milan squad. “I am proud to have joined Milan,” Zaccardo said yesterday. “The negotiations started a few weeks ago and now I am here. I can play in the centre of defense or at full-back and I will give my best. I am 31 and I come here after playing a lot of matches in Serie A. I know some of the players.”

Adriano Galliani has not ruled out further moves this January but Milan continue to work for the summer as Sky reports that Milan have a deal with Verona for the central midfielder Jorge Luiz Frello aka Jorginho (21).

With Acerbi returning to Genoa…does this mean we’re getting a new centre back, or does it mean that Zaccardo will play in the centre of defence? Would not mind if Zaccardo would turn out to be for us, like Barzagli was for Juve, even though it’s probably only wishful thinking… Well, he’ll probably do better than Bonera if used as a centre back, and I think he’d do good there. And people, bashing him for his own goal, do you guys remember Thiago Silva’s own goal against Lazio, in his first season? It’s unfortunate, it happens to most players, it… Read more »

tought we weren’t buying old players anymore…tought we were going to be a young team

KURFI

Mixing young players with there elders is not bad to me. but the issue is that milan management always went 4 cheaper players in the name of fiscal policy. Milanistas let us pray 4 a better signing b4 window closed 4 a better result.

Finger still crossed but my hands don dey pain me oo
