MATTIA DE SCIGLIO has a great future ahead of him, believes former Milan midfielder Alberigo Evani.
Milan start the new season tomorrow and many Primavera players will be there too trying to convince coach Massimiliano Allegri they deserve to be promoted to the first team – like Mattia De Sciglio did.
De Sciglio trained with the first team in the 2011/2012 season and even played a few games including the derby. Next year he’ll be the direct replacement to Ignazio Abate and Evani believes he has a great future.
“De Sciglio is a versatile player. He can play both on the right and on the left in the defence and he can also play in the midfield,” Evani, who played for Milan for 13 years, told Tuttomercatoweb today (Sunday). “De Sciglio could even be used as a central defender even though he’s still lacking physical strength.
“De Sciglio is an intelligent player who really uses his brains in the plays that he makes on the pitch. De Sciglio is also good at shooting. He prefers to use his right foot but he can also use his left foot. He’s already mature. He’s a great ability to learn and he applies himself 100%. I predict a great future for him.”
De Sciglio, like Evani, is a Milan youth product. The 19-year-old impressed for years on youth levels, and he’s now finally considered a legitimate first team player and will probably not feature for the Primavera.
