Aquilani set for permanent-move appearance?

ALBERTO AQUILANI is one game away from becoming a permanent AC Milan player, or is he?

Milan signed Aquilani in the summer from Liverpool on loan with an option to buy him which would turn into a mandatory if he reaches 25 appearances. So far, he has played 24, or 21.5 – depends who you ask.

The Rossoneri take on Roma this evening at Stadio San Siro and some sources in the Italian press claim that if Aquilani will step on the grass of the Meazza the clause in his contract will be automatically activated.

Milan will reportedly pay Liverpool €6 million in order to get the player who signed a contract until 2014 when he arrived to the club. Regular counting says that Aquilani has made 17 league appearances, 1 in the Coppa Italia and 6 in the UEFA Champions League so this evening he can make his 25th appearance.

However, the contract of Aquilani is perhaps different, as Michele Criscitiello, the director of TMW explains: “Even if he did play against Roma, Aquilani would not be 100 per cent a Milan player. The contract with Liverpool is very precise, as every time Aquilani plays for Milan, it is worth either an entire game or half a game. If he starts and comes off again five minutes later, it still counts as a full game. If he comes on from the bench, it will always count as half a game. Therefore if we make the calculations on that basis then Aquilani has 21.5 appearances for Milan and if he starts tomorrow it’ll be 22.5 and not 25. Aquilani has made 13 Serie A starts and four as a substitute, while in the Champions League he started five and was a substitute in one match. In the Coppa Italia he started against Juventus, so that counts as one game.”

Aquilani grew in the Roma youth system. He spent a year with U.S. Triestina Calcio on loan before going back to Roma where he suffered from injuries and inconsistency. Aqua also played for ‘Pool and Juventus.

The club probably won’t be buyin so much this summer as we have to pay for Aquilani and Shaarawy… Good thing is we get Montolivo for free… Would love to see Rossi in red n black, if Pato/Binho leave

Aquilani has been good so far at milan, if we want to do the right thing, then we should buy him.

Aquilani hasn’t really impressed me this season. he is still very inconsistent, and i haven’t yet forgiven him for the awful game vs barca. however, i do think we should buy him, because he is good as a sub, or as a back-up player. imo he only starts because we don’t have any other playmaker to take his place. just my opinion, though.
