Report: Onyewu close to join FC Zurich

OGUCHI ONYEWU is on his way out.

il Corriere dello Sport revealed on Friday that AC Milan American defender Onyewu is close to move to Swiss side FC Zurich already in January.

It remains to see how much Zurich would pay the Rossoneri for the player who has failed to make any impact during the past year and half – having played only one match, in the UCL against FC Zurich.

The Rome-based newspaper also suggested that Milan want Luca Toni of Genoa. Despite Genoa President Enrico Preziosi insisted that Toni would stay, the player said that he considers leaving.

Milan want an alternative to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and another striker since Ronaldinho’s leaving, and the former Italy international could fill in this position.

one of my worst moments as milan fan was watching that game Milan – Zurich, not because of the home loss, but watching NESTA sub out for onyewu, so painful..

Louis

He had a good stint, good to cash in on him now while we still can and buy us a good replacement. Zurich’s a good club and they’ll take care of him … Hope this means somebody will come in for him though.

I’m okay with him leaving; he never really made an impact but we really need to cut other dead weight too. Oddo’s on high wages, send him off. Jankulovski has had a long run with us, but he honestly needs to be sent off too. Maybe Sokratis. There’s alot of dead weight in the defence. Also, as a Milanista I hate to say it but Seedorf has been and will continue to struggle finding time in the Milan Midfield. With Gattuso playing as well as he is, Ambro, Pirlo, KPB, and Flamini (and sometimes Abate)…. Seedorf really has no place… Read more »

RE: Louis

We can’t cash in on him, because he is on a free 1 year contract.

This is the best move for Onyewu and Milan. I still to this day dont understand what Galliani and Braida were thinking when they signed him. This will go down as one of Milan’s worst signing! The only American defender worthy of top flight is Jay Demerit.

I would have felt better if Milan had sign Landon Donovan or Jay Demerit but Onyewu? Bizzare!

Milan must also get rid or Bonera and Skoratis ASAP!We should definitely Get Santacroce and Coates in January.

What about David Luiz? … Perfect partner with TS!! Also De Zeuw would be a good addition!! With regards to Onyewu, since he’s free why not keep him and give him some time … Its better to see Janku go, although he gave us a lot … but now his time is up.

@Engelbert…I personally dont rate David Luiz and he is too expensive. I think Rafael Toloi is better, younger and cheaper!
