Serie A preview: AC Milan-Chievo

AC MILAN host Chievo Verona on Saturday when the clock points 18:00 at Stadio San Siro.

A victory at home over Chievo would be very important to Milan, as it will take them to the top of the Serie A, at least for one day, but more importantly, it will show the Rossoneri are keen on the title this season.

The Flying Donkeys are surely not a side to disrespect as they are in the top five of the Serie A and have already beaten great sides this season.

Report: Brazil coach Menezes phoned Dinho
Ambrosini to be available for Saturday

Watch the highlights of the last encounter between them.

The Rossoneri are currently sitting in the fourth place in Serie A, two points behind leaders S.S. Lazio and on tomorrow they have a chance to go on to the top again.

A victory over Chievo would be more than important for Massimiliano Allegri’s men, as it would give them a massive mental boost ahead of Tuesday night, when Milan got to face Real Madrid.

Coming off from the first place to the Santiago Bernabeu would be unlikely, but if the Rossoneri can beat Chievo and maintain their level, both mentally and physically, the match against Real would be easier.

All the players have returned from international duties and Allegri has almost everyone available, although Captain Massimo Ambrosini is still out but expected to be fit for Madrid trip.

Milan could go 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 with Ronaldinho as their main playmaker. The Brazilian played that role against Parma and he has to give a good game on Saturday, as Brazil coach Mano Menezes is observing him.

Star Man: Alexandre Pato was at his very best for Brazil this week, scoring two goals within three days. He looks on form and in great shape. Along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he could make life a misery for Chievo.

Injury List: Jankulovski, Montelongo, Ambrosini are injured while Oddo, Papastathopoulos, Onyewu, Yepes, Oduamadi haven’t been called-up.

Squad List: Abbiati, Amelia; Antonini, Bonera, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Zambrotta; Abate, Boateng, Flamini, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Strasser; Ibrahimovic, Inzaghi, Pato, Robinho, Ronaldinho.

Chievo have made troubles for some big sides this season – beating 1-3 twice, against Genoa and Napoli and they will look to add another impressive victory to their record, this time over AC Milan.

Ceo have conceded five goals this season, only two when they played far from their home fans, while scoring 8 goals, six of them away.

The Flying Donkeys know they are underdogs and this is the perfect situation for them. They will be trying to surprise Milan mostly using their speed and counter attacks, two things Milan have had troubles with before.

It’s highly unlikely that Chievo would finish in the top five when the season comes to an end, but they are enjoying their moment.

Star Man: Sergio Pellissier scored four goals this season already and he will be keen to delete the scoring gap from Samuel Eto’o and Edinson Cavani against Milan. Should be watched.

Injury List: Luciano, Sardo, De Paula.

Squad List: Squizzi, Sorrentino, Silvestri; Andreolli, Cesar, Jokic, Frey, Mandelli, Mantovani, Rincon; Bentivoglio, Bogliacino, Marcolini, Rigoni, Dettori, Fernandes, Constant; Granoche, Pellissier, Thereau, Moscardelli.

i hope we use sokratis rather than zambrotta.if not why milan waste money+(zigoni, odu, strasser half contract ) to genoa.sokratis is a good defender.he still need some time to make himself comfortable in milan.allegri must trust in young blood.sokratis is better than sergio ramos.don’t waste his talents.

I think Allegri should put yepes on a starter on this match, because he knows exactly how his former team play, I hope Allegri had a telling tactic to overcome the movement of Pellissier
