Trofeo TIM: Post-match reactions

HERE’S what AC Milan players had to say.

The Rossoneri beat Juventus last night after shoot-out, but lost to Inter Milan later, again, after penalties shoot-out. Here are some of the reactions of Milan players and coach Allegri.

Luca Antonini who played the first match against Juve believes Milan have got better this year. “This year we take them [Inter), we are stronger. Inter will not escape,” he told.

Inter: ‘Milan have not improved’
Boateng: ‘I am coming to Italy’

Many people prefer to see Massimo Oddo sitting on the bench rather than playing, but he doesn’t care. Oddo said: “Criticism? I’m calm, but dislike the whistles. I go ahead. “

Ronaldinho, who missed the crucial penalty against Inter, said: “After a day of work the team is doing good things. We must still improve, of course, that’s fine too. Personally I’m glad I started with a win and a goal, I feel very good.”

The goalkeeper played a very good match yesterday, especially Marco Amelia, who stopped two penalties against Juve. “I made a lot of saves this evening,” he started. “I am happy about my performance. The team showed a decent level of fitness in the first match. We have put in a lot of work in training over these days, and before the first competitive matches we’ll be able to get over the tiredness. What pleases me is seeing the team follow the concepts set out by the coach.”

Mario Yepes played against Inter, and afterwards said: Coming up against a player like Milito is never simple. This evening, though, I believe things went better, I am getting fitter. What’s more, being at Milan means learning lots of things. From the day I arrived, I realised that many things work perfectly from an organisational and training point of view. Milanello allows you the chance to give your most. I am learning how to recognise my team-mates more and more on the pitch, which is a great advantage for the future.”

Playing the second match, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar failed to impress again. “I am disappointed we lost on penalties,” he said. “This was my first 45 minutes since I started pre-season training; it is enjoyable playing in pre-season and I believe it went quite well. Everything is useful, especially to run off the heavy workload at Milanello. It has been a tough week for me, but I want to be ready for the start of the season.”

Finally, this is what Coach Massimiliano Allegri had to say about the match: “I am happy this evening, too. However, we committed some mistakes that need correcting before the start of the league. We played some good football, but we let our opponents break too often without putting up opposition. I am happy about the goalkeepers; they give us security. Ronaldinho played well. It was his first match, he’ll have plenty of chance to improve his physical condition.”
