Emirates Cup Preview: Arsenal-AC Milan

9

ARSENAL are hosting AC MILAN on Saturday noon when the clock strikes 4:20 at the Emirates Stadium as each side would like to gain first victory in this year’s addition.

The Gunners are coming motivated to defend their title and after an impressive 4-0 victory, Arsene Wenger would like to continue the good form.

This is the first time the Rossoneri take part in this tournament, and they would like not to finish in last place, like their rivals Inter and Juventus have done in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

Arsenal are in great shape. The Gunners have already gained fitness, as they’ve played three friendlies already and in all of them they’ve impressed as scoring 11 goals in three matches.

Coach Arsene Wenger has told he expects a good performance on this day against AC Milan, as he looks determinate to keep the trophy in England.

The three friendlies the Gunners have played this summer are not a measure for Arsenal’s ability and the match against the Rossoneri will be a first big test ahead of the new season, in which they’ll be looking for the EPL title.

Marouane Chamakh, who arrived to Arsenal from Bordeaux, is expected to play alongside Nicklas Bendtner and Andrey Arshavin in 4-3-3 system.

AC Milan will be trying to save some of the lost honor of the Italians in this tournament after both Inter Milan and Juventus F.C. finished last in the Emirates Cup in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

The Rossoneri have been working together for only 10 days now and they have played only one game against Varese which was complete disastrous, as il Diavolo lost 2-0 to the newly promoted Serie B side.

A huge blow for Milan emerged yesterday when it was declared that Ronaldinho would miss this competition due to an injury. You can find the full squad of Milan here.

After the horrible performance of Massimo Oddo against Varese, Sokratis Papastathopoulos is expected to take the position as right-back, with Mario Yepes and Alessandro Nesta in the middle and Luca Antonini on the left.

With ronaldinho we are weak in attack. Arsenal are a team that plays attacking football. The match will be a fight between the midfielders. It will be DIABY,DENILSON,SONG,ARSHAVIN vs FLAMINI,PIRLO,AMBROSINI,SEEDORF. It will be tough but milan can win if they go into the picth with an aim of winning. Milan must have to make arsenal be frustrated by playing a more offensive style of football. I think the formation should be 4-3-1-2 : Amelia – sokratis, nesta, yepes, antonini – flamini, pirlo, ambrosini – seedorf – pato, borrielo : WITH FLAMINI AND AMBROSINI PLAYING AS DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS . WHILE PIRLO PLAYING A FREE MIDFIELD ROLE.

we can win the title even though inter is far better an we need reinforcements. U c we only lost when pato and nesta didn’t play. Without pati pirlo also had no one to pass to up front thy has speed. We got unlucky with onyewu and bonera two gud backups but they got injured and that’s y we lost cuz we have to play favalli. so if hunter gets better which he likely will pirlo will have he and pato great strikers to pass too and Nedra will have great cover plus we got a stable rite back and… Read more »
