Genoa C.F.C-AC Milan: A Must

GENOA C.F.C are hosting AC MILAN on Sunday noon at Stadio Luigi Ferraris when the clock strikes 3.00, as Milan are keen to win so they will finally secure third place.

The Grifone will not play in the Champions League or in the Europa League as they are mathematically too far from playing aboard next season. However, Genoa will still play for their pride this weekend.

The Rossoneri must win this game in order to play the last match of the season with their minds clear, as three points would secure the third place. Milan looked good last week and will try to win again.

07/5/10: The Fronts
Nesta & Pato Are BACK

In the last time Milan faced Genoa, it was a great win of Milan. Mesto Palacio opened the scoring, Ronaldinho equaled, then Thiago Silva scored, double of Marco Borriello followed it. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar added another one and David Suazo only reduced to make it Milan 5-2 Genoa.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s men didn’t look good at all last week when they visited new promoted A.S. Bari. Genoa went down by three goals, as recording 14 Serie A defeat this term.

May 2 v Bari (A) – LOST 3- (Serie A)

April 25 v Lazio (H) – LOST 2-1 (Serie A)

April 18 v Parma (A) – WON 3-2 (Serie A)

April 11 v Sampdoria (A) – LOST 1-0 (Serie A)

April 3 v Livorno (H) – DREW 1-1 (Serie A)

Add to this the 1-2 defeat they suffered from Lazio two weekends ago – things aren’t look too bright for the Vecchio Balordo. The last time Genoa have beaten a team it was on April 18 against Pamra.  They found the net 13 times in the midweek friendly match.

There is sense of disappointment in the Genoa club, and they feel even worse when they see that their big town-rivals, U.C. Sampdoria are getting closer to a Champions League spot and even threaten AC Milan’s third.

Genoa are pretty strong at home, as they won 10 times in front of their crowd, drew five times and lost only three times at Luigi Ferraris. Genoa correctly have 48 points from 36 matches.

NEWS: Jankovic, Kharja, Rossi, Dainelli and Moretti are out.

Away games against Genoa have always been a tough thing for AC Milan, as their fans are not allowed to enter the Stadio since the murder of the Genoa fan in 1995. This year, however, the gates will be open.

May 2 v Fiorentina (H) – WON (Serie A)

April  24 v Palermo (A) – LOST (Serie A)

April  18 v Sampdoria (H) – LOST 2-1 (Serie A)

April 11 v Catania (H) – DREW 2-2 (Serie A)

April 3 v Cagliari (A) – WON 3-2 (Serie A)

The good news continue to arrive from the medical stuff as three players have reached full recovery. Milan, without these three, defeated Fiorentina last weekend, when Ronaldinho showed his magic and scored the goal.

The Rossoneri have played a game at the Luigi Ferraris not so late ago, and it ended not so well, as U.C. Sampdoria defeated il Diavolo with Giampaolo Pazzini scoring late in the second half.

AC Milan’s away form is average – they won eight times away, drew five times and lost five times. Milan are third with 67 points from 36 matches, but only a victory would secure the third place for them.

NEWS: Nesta, Pato and Abate have returned from injury. Ambrosini is suspended, while Beckham, Bonera and Onyewu are injured.

It will be hard for Milan. But at the moment, with all the good news, the Rossoneri should win. Genoa C.F.C 1-3 AC Milan

I think that Abate and Pato will be on the bench. Milan are a better team and should/must win this game. Nesta will start alongside Silva (finally).

I hope Pato will start!
