Milan Join Arsenal For Mangala & Mongongu

AC MILAN and ARSENAL F.C. are tracking the same two defenders and facing stiff competition against each other.

Milan and Arsenal would to reinforce their defenses during injuries in the back-line. Four Rossoneri players are under the affection of the injury as well as Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs, Johan Djourou and Gael Clichy.

Both clubs are suffering from problems in defenses and both clubs have reportedly asked the same players to add in January transfer window.

De Standaard reports Standard Liège youngster Eliaquim Mangala has attracted AC Milan interest with the good play he performs during the last and correct seasons.

The French center-back has gotten the first team shirt last year in the Belgian champions and has made 35 unofficial appearances for Les Rouches so far, including 11 official matches.

Mangala played against Arsenal earlier this season in the Champions League when he has impressed a lot. Since that evening, the Gunners are following the 18-years-old who is tied to a contact until 2013.

Milan and Arsenal are also sharing interest at Monaco, France. AS Monaco FC 20-years-old defender, Cedric Mongongu has been followed by the Italians according to his agent, but he would prefer a move to London.

Mongongu has recorded 61 matches for Monaco B and played 27 times for Monaco since 2007. The player has been linked with Serie A side Milan and Juventus, but it looks like Arsenal bypasses in round.

“Milan have been following him for some time and have sent their scouts to watch him. But this does not mean that a deal is in place,” Mongongu agent told TMW.

“The problem is not the contract, but that player is also required in England. Obviously, Italy is a welcome destination, but the Premier League is a very important stage.”
