Preview: FC Zurich – AC Milan, Last Call For Rossoneri

FC ZURICH will host AC MILAN at Stadio Letzigrund of Zurich, as they will try to do the impossible and overtake the Diavolo two times, while Milan will try to reach a round of 16 spot.

It’s a bit different Milan than two months ago. The Rossoneri are now the most in-form club in Serie A and maybe in entire Europe, as they haven’t lost their last 13 games.

FCZ made a big surprise at San Siro and after claimed three points at Stadio San Siro, they will try to do the same at home, even though they have no make it to the next round.

Bernard Challandes’ boys have reached only three points in this entire Champions League campaign, but the way is the only things that matters. Zurich have lost all their CL matches, except for one, against AC Milan.

LOST 1-0 (a) Grasshopper (Super League, December 5)
WON 2-0 (h) Aarau (Super League, November 29)
LOST 1-0 (a) Real Madrid (Champions League, November 25)
LOST 1-0 (a) Luzern (Super League, November 8 )
LOST 6-1 (a) Olympique de Marseille (Champions League, November 3)

Stadio San Siro was in a big shock, when it seemed that Leonardo’s job is a very big risk after Hannu Tihinen, Zurich’s Finnish central defender, netted the ball with the back of his shoe after 10 minutes of playing.

However, since that very memorable victory that was claimed by the Fußball-Club of Zürich, things didn’t get any brighter at league of Champions League. The Swiss champions are only seventh in the Swiss Super League, as they won only once in their last five domestic league matches.

At Champions League, they are a great memory for Real Madrid and Olympique de Marseille – two sides who have crushed the Swiss side two times. The Blancos opened their CL series with a 5-1 victory, while Marseille scored six against them.

Many have blamed their goalkeeper, Johnny Leoni for Zurich’s weak form this year. The Swiss keeper should have stopped many of the balls who did their way to the net, but his form, leads Zurich to concede 13 goals while netting only four.

Bernard Challandes will not be allowed to use injured Yassine Chikhaoui and Eric Hassli, but Johan Vonlanthen, Philippe Koch and Silvan Aegerter have returned to the squad while Florian Stahel is banned.

Xavier Margairaz told that Zurich’s way in CL is important for Swiss football two weeks ago, but according to the champions’ performance, Switzerland does not know too much about football…

Perfect. This word came out of AC Milan fans, coach, players, after the match against Sampdoria. Sampdoria were no match for Milan who just played like Leonardo wanted.

Even Silvio Berlusconi came to see the match. Marco Borriello has said that he and his team-mates played like the Prime Minister wanted them to play like, as he added and said: “We played in a perfect way”.

WON 3-0 (h) Sampdoria (Serie A, December 5)
WON 2-0 (a) Catania (Serie A, November 29)
DREW 1-1 (h) Olympique de Marseille (Champions League, November 25)
WON 4–3 (h) Cagliari (Serie A, November 22)
WON 2-1 (a) Lazio (Serie A, November 8 )

Perfect is a big word and you must know how to handle this kind of a word – it’s clearly not so easy. Milan are playing a very good football and they are in a very good moment after it seemed like the 21-century breakdown for them.

A turning point had happened. Some would claim it was against A.S. Roma and some would say it was at the Santiago Bernabeu when Milan proved they are better than a Galacticos also when they are in a very bad shape.

Real Madrid 3-2 victory may show the light for the Rossoneri, but Milan knew how to handle this kind of momentum as they had translated that to many other victories, which led the Diavolo for the second spot in Serie A.

Milan are only four points away from league leaders Inter Milan, after they played, once again, a perfect game against Sampdoria like Leonardo said. The Rossoneri however, aim first spot within the next couple of weeks, when the face Palermo and Fiorentina.

Leonardo called up Dida, Storari, Roma, Antonini, De Vito (n°56), Jankulovski, Kaladze, Nesta, Pasini (n°57), Thiago Silva, Abate, Ambrosini, Flamini, Novinic (n°55), Pirlo, Seedorf, Borriello, Di Gennaro, Huntelaar, Inzaghi, Pato, Ronaldinho, Verdi (n°58), while Oddo, Onyewu, Gattuso are all injured.

Not any result will satisfied the hungry Brazilian coach who aims nothing else than attractive and maybe ‘perfect’ game against FC Zurich, as he wants to prove, Zurich victory over them, was a one-time trip.

It does not seem like Milan are going to fail against FC Zurich once again and with this correct form, the Rossoneri are just too big for the Swiss champions. AC Milan 5 – 2 FC Zurich
