Pato: AC Milan striker; Decided to remain with AC Milan
The Rossoneri striker Alexandre Pato has claimed there were major interest from Chelsea, but he decided to stay with AC Milan
Chelsea have failed to bring both Rossoneri players Andrea Pirlo and Alexandre Pato more than once during this “fascinating” transfer window. According to reports from past weeks, Chelsea were planning a £45m for Pato, who’s considered one of the best young players in the world.
AC Milan have rejected it and today Pato reveals that there were no intentions of joining London all summer, also even the press said otherwise. The Italians rejected all the bids for him from all the sides. Pato said that he was badly wanted by The Blues, but the switch wasn’t even in his mind.
“I know that they [Chelsea] wanted me, but I never thought about leaving,” Pato told La Stampa. “It’s true that I wanted to see Ancelotti, but not to join him in London.” Reports suggested that Pato wanted to talk Chelsea boss Ancelotti about his future before deciding to stay.
“I was not there when he said goodbye to my team-mates at the end of the season, and this is why I wanted to see him. I spoke to him after and I will always be grateful to him for teaching me.” Pato added: “However, I will not leave, I will stay with Leonardo.”
Pato, 19, stars at Milan front lines alongside Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Milan have not had the best times in pre-season this year, having won one match out nine. People like to adjudge someone’s future according to few things only, but Pato believes those people are wrong, big time.
“Everyone who doesn’t trust this team is wrong. People have been quick to judge, but we know how we have been working in training,” Pato said. “We have the quality and the will to do well. We are not inferior to anyone.”
