AC MILAN will host U.S. CITTA DI PALERMO on Sunday at Stadio San Siro. The Rossoneri will try to get closer to Inter while Palermo will right for a better place in the standing.

From the second place of Serie A, the Rossoneri will square off against Palermo, as they would like to continue their winning & unbeaten streak in league with another victory.

Going north from Sicily, Palermo will arrive to San Siro to face the most in-form team in Italy, as they know that with a win, they can take the tenth place.

FC Zurich 1 – 1 AC Milan: Draw Is Enough For Round Of 16
Borriello: We Played Perfectly

AC Milan haven’t lost for almost three months. Leonardo’s team failed to pass FC Zurich in the Champions League when lost them 0-1 at San Siro back in September 30, but since then everything has changed.

The Rossoneri started to win and the streak continues until week 16 of the Serie A, but the good run could have ended again, against the same Swiss side – FC Zurich, but maybe luck was in Milan side.

LAST FIVE: AC MILAN
December 8 v FC Zurich (A) – DREW 1-1 (Champions League)

December 5 v Sampdoria (H) – WON 3-0 (Serie A)

November 29 v Catania (A) – WON 2-0 (Serie A)

November 25 v Marseille (H) – DREW 1 – 1 (Champions League)

November 22 v Cagliari (H) – WON 4 – 3 (Serie A)

Once again, Zurich surprised everyone and maybe themselves when sent an outstanding free-kick to pass through Dida goal. Zurich faced a good side, but Milan handled it after Marco Borriello dived and Ronaldinho scored a penalty.

Milan are in the next stage of the Champions League and now there is a very big recess until the end of February. This recess leaves the Rossoneri enough time to focus on the league and pass Inter.

There are only four points separating Milan and Inter, but like Leonardo said before, Milan must improve in order to catch Inter. The Nerazzuri are leading the table, but Milan are now looking like the best team.

However, FC Zurich 1-1 draw has proved that Milan could not maintain Sampdoria momentum and way of playing which was according to many – just ‘perfect’. This perfect game costs much, but Milan can pay it.

The Diavolo are holding five-match winning record in Serie A this season, and a win over Palermo would make it six. Milan stay with the legs in earth and have not carried away with the recent success.

Massimo Oddo, Gennaro Gattuso, Oguchi Onyewu, Thiago Silva and Daniele Bonera are all injured while Mathieu Flamini and Clarence Seedorf are both said to be struggling to be fit for Sunday’s match.

It seems like Milan have the three points already, but the Sicilian will make it tough for the Rossoneri.

At Palermo, well, the story is a bit different. The Rosanero are suffering from a season full of vicissitudes. This situation took them so far only to the middle of the table, with only 20 points, despite the potential this team have.

LAST FIVE: PALERMO
December 6 v Cagliari (H) – WON 2-1 (Serie A)

November 29 v Chievo (A) LOST 1 – 0  (Serie A)

November 26 v Reggina (H) WON 4 – 1 (Coppa Italia)

November 22 v Catania (H) DREW 1 – 1 (Serie A)

November 8 v Bologna (A) LOST 3 – 1 (Serie A)

Chairman Maurizio Zamparini pushes from results but Coach Delio Rossi delivers it only once a while. Palermo have lack of continuity this season and it’s seen in their last five records which includes two loses, two wins and a draw against weaker teams.

Delio Rossi side, however, have some luck – the Serie A have yet to get its shape and structure as for now, the all thing is very dynamic and could change. The Aquile are only five points away from CL spot from the fourth place.

While Milan are surrounded by Juventus and Inter Milan, Palermo neighbors are Udinese and Bari. Udinese are likely to finish in the top six while Bari can finish 10 at least. As for Palermo, the Sicilians who finished eighth last season cannot make it higher this term if they carry on this way.

Mark Bresciano is out injured while Edinson Cavani and Fabio Simplicio are likely to make it to Sunday’s clash despite having some minor problems. Delio Rossi will miss also the suspended Giulio Migliaccio.

A victory away at San Siro is certainly not likely, but anything can happen. Their away record is not quit well this season, as they have lost five 0ut of their seven matches outside of Stadio Renzo Barbera.

PREDICTION
AC Milan are very good at these moments at the season, but Palermo can surprise and maybe steal the show. However, this is very unlikely. Milan 2 – 1 Palermo

Well, it will be tough becuase Milan are a bit tired. But, Milan are better and in much better moment than Palermo. I don’t like to make predictions, but I agree with your 2-1

  2. Klas says:

I would like to see Hunter plays instead of Borriello. Ronaldinho on the left and Pato on the right with Seedorf behind them – this is the best. Midfield: Pirlo, Flamini and Seedorf (attacking).

It is a match we should win. But as our winning streak continues to grow in Serie A, the danger is sooner or later it will come to an end. Leo needs to keep his players focused as the next few matches in Serie A are important and will not be easy. Fiorentina, Genoa and Juve to follow.
