‘The Puma’ left the Rossoneri this summer after the end of last season. The two sides said good-bye and kept on friendship. The official statement told he left for what AC Milan call “personal reasons” but that was ok for both parties.
Emerson, 33, plays as midfielder, was hoping to return to his first club Gremio, where he started to build his career. The Brazilian waited for a call from the South American club, but the phone was not ringing.
New-old Santos manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo appointed to this job in the fourth time by today, was the one to push the pedals in order to bring the former AC Milan midfielder Emerson.
“There were other interested clubs, but Emerson preferred Santos for the long-term project of Luxemburgo and the central role he will have in the squad,” confirmed Santos director of football Adilson Durante to Il Corriere dello Sport.
Emerson has the right experience to lead Santos midfielder after had long and successful career which saw Gremio, Bayer Leverkusen, Roma, Juventus, Real Madrid, Milan and now Santos. With 73 appearances in Brazil national team, The Puma seems ready to return to Brazil.
