Nesta. Quitting football?
He is in the stadium in every match of Milan, he sit in the balcony but he is not the audience. Who is he you ask…He is one of Milan’s injured players for this season, seven names can answer this question: ‘Rino’ Gattuso, Marco Borriello, Alessandro Nesta, Kakha Kaladze, Daniele Bonera, Christian Abbiati, Luca Antonini who are out of order since early this season.
The ex-Lazio captain is one of the injured players as we could see as his time he will not play. Alessandro Nesta played in the last time when Milan had bad period as they lost 3-1 to Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo on May 11, 2008. Since then he never saw a field as player as he has chronic back problems. Nesta missed the entire campaign of most of the season he was spend time his season-time sitting on the balcony when he watch his friend having good time, experience losings and winnings. Any injured play spent his time like that.
When you’re not playing for long time, your passion to play coming lower as you don’t want to play or cannot play as you been used to – it’s hard to came back to yourself, and say ‘What happened – happened and just do nothing. Sometimes ignoring is the best remedy for you but you mostly have to prove yourself once again if you want to turn to what you were. A missing of playing could make you do not want to play any more.
Milan’s 3-1 defeat by Napoli could be Alessandro Nesta last one in his career. The Italy national team play is suffering from injury and seemed to make his comeback on friendly against Tiran last October. In this time, the luck was not with Milan – it was against Milan. After this game, he suffered a relapse and underwent surgery in February.
The newspaper La Gazzetta dello sport reports the Italy player considering quitting football. Milan already suffering from bad defense as the defense players are injury, coming back from injuries by the time but it’s not enough. Milan cannot wait forever for defender. They accepted to have some defensives strengthening or replacement to him on the transfer market ahead of next season.
Nesta’s rehabilitation process is now over and Nesta has resumed running at Milanello. The 33-years-old-defender does not seem to make much headway, the medical staff of Milan (Not well as other clubs – like Brazil national team) insist the player is ‘clinically healed’. However, how we can see, not actual advancement in his fitness been made.
Not long time after this event was published, Vice-President Adriano Galliani was harry to reply the claims when he say that AC Milan would like him to comeback to Milan, featured the best he can do as he did until now. “We are reasoning with him. We’ve been waiting and will have to wait a little more,” Galliani started. Milan are not going to let Nesta go home and they really do not want to be bound by Nesta and terminating his contract. “We don’t intend to avail ourselves to the option of terminating his contract, because Nesta is a champion. We still hope that he can return to play for Milan.” He said.
Nesta played only for two clubs in his career. He was great in Lazio and even was its captain. He played more in Lazio than in Milan as he played for 193 times and scored once in nine years, when he played as Rossoneri for 156 times and scored three times in seven years. The 13 shirt number also has 6 appearances in under 21 Italy national team and scored once, while with the older team he has played for 78 times but never scored. The player was a vital part in the squad of 2004 season when they won the Scudetto, in 2003 and 2007 he was important as well when they won Uefa Champions League, which is the objective to next season. Quitting or not – as everything at Milan – We will know at the end of the season.
