ALESANDRO NESTA has re-rejected Italy return, as he claims it would be just unfair from him to join again, and ’steal’ someone else’s place in the squad.
The Italian defender hung his Italy-team boots after 2006 World Cup, when was injured all along the tournament, and then played in the final in which Italy defeated France to win the glamour and the best title of all.
At the same year, Roma star Francesco Totti stopped his Italy national team adventure too, but recently, been tipped to join Marcello Lippi’s squad for South Africa. However, Nesta has said that he would not take example.

“If I were to go to the Nazionale – and I want to make it clear nobody has asked – then I’d be taking the place of someone who is already in the squad,” said the Milan defender.
“I wouldn’t do it. If someone has played 10 games and fought so hard to achieve qualification, then I turn up at the last minute and steal his spot, it wouldn’t be fair.
“I am the one who gave up on the Nazionale, I was not kicked out, I did it for my own issues.”
The main reason for Nesta’s retirement from international football is the many injuries he picked up during his spell with Italy, injuries that kept him out of Milan squad and disturbed his personal life.
“At the end of the day, I was right to retire from international football,” insisted Nesta. “When everyone said there were no problems, after the World Cup I wrecked my shoulder – nobody knows why – and then my back. It was better to rest.”
But, the veteran sweeper has found form again and he’s one of the best defenders in the world. AC Milan defense is a lot more confident when Nesta is around, and they will try to stop Juventus’ attack on Sunday.
“It could be the most important match of the campaign, as if we win then we will break away from Juve and have a game in hand to close in on Inter,” he continued.
“We must believe that we can win the title, although Inter are very strong and rarely drop points.”
