LEONARDO believes that Milan can catch Inter during the winter period, but in order to do it, they must keep on this level of playing in all of their matches, as he’s looking for to Sampdoria and Zurich matches.

AC Milan are manage to be unbeaten for 12 matches now, and coach Leonardo thinks that the Serie A standing is still all very close for Milan, but the general situation is very positive.

The Rossoneri are sit on second place of the Italian top league and they will an option to keep up with table leaders and Italian champions Inter sooner or later during the season, as they aim first Scudetto winning since 2004.

Bonera Awaits For Comeback

“At the moment the standings are still very close. Our latest results are positive and important. In the league we are all very close even though we can only sum things up at the end. That said, Milan will have to try and keep a high level,” the Brazilian coach told the press during a press-conference.

“Inter have had few drops in form in the last few years especially during the winter period. They’re a very solid teams and this allowed them to maintain an important advantage from the others even in difficult times.

“Now we have many home games and that’s a very positive aspect after the numerous away games we’ve had. Before the Christmas break we are playing against teams who are in a good position in the table, they will be almost direct encounters and this will be useful to finish the period before the Christmas break well.

“In our next games we are facing teams who in this first part of the league have had highs and lows: for example Sampdoria started very well and even though they found some difficulties, I’m still convinced that each match has its own history. At the moment Samp want to refind themselves.

“Tomorrow I expect a very difficult match against a team which despite the latest results will be difficult to ‘penetrate’ with some very solid players.”

Milan beat Catania in the last weekend of the Serie A, and they were very lucky then, when Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored an unlikely brace in the injury time to give Milan the win.

“After the match in Catania we faced an entire week of work and that was useful to train well and rest. We will evaluate the conditions of Thiago Silva and Huntelaar because in the last few days they didn’t participate to each phase of the training with the team, but in general the situation is positive,” Leo continued.

“There will be important returns like those of Bonera and Jankulovski. Zambrotta will be suspended for the match against Zurich, we’ll see how we handle this situation. We don’t have many options, but we will do things the best possible way. As for Massimo Ambrosini, the captain is doing very well, but based on today’s training we will decide who goes on the pitch.”
