Ho! Dady little boy
AC Milan return home, with a big smile on their face, knowing the team has improved but there is a lot of work ahead of them. Now, when they’re satisfied, the only thing in their minds is the Derby D’Italia, between them and Inter, next weekend at San Siro
Alexandre Pato gave Milan two goals and a win, showing he’s the best under 20 player in Serie A, and maybe in the world. Ronaldinho showed well as well as Pato and the team earned three points and a place at the top of the league (at least for one day).
It was Leonardo’s first official match as AC Milan coach. The former midfielder maybe failed at pre-season, but his team know how to play well. Thiago Silva, made his first official appearances too. Milan open the new season well, with 2-1 win away over Siena.
AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani, who is in almost full control about what’s going on with Milan since the owner Silvio Berlusconi is also Italy prime minister, spoke after the match against Siena on Saturday night. According to AC Milan official site, Galliani said:
“It was a difficult game, we knew it, Siena attacked us but it went well. I saw a really extraordinary central defensive duo, made up of Nesta and Thiago Silva, and Ronaldinho interpreted in the best way his forward role. Now there’s the derby, and with three points in our pockets it’s something completely different.”
The winning coach, Leonardo told the press after his first official win as a coach:
“I arrived feeling calm and confident to this game because I had already noted the positive things in the past days, both during training as well as in the Berlusconi Trophy, therefore it was not a surprise for me that the lads played an extraordinary game today
"The best things I saw were the approach to the match, the game organization and the will to win.
"With regards to the individuals, Borriello and Pato did very well, but also Ronaldinho, who found his position, and the full-backs who interpreted their role in the best way, both defensively and offensively.
"And then Nesta and Thiago Silva deserve to be hailed: Thiago helps him, Nesta guides him, in other words they complete each other. Sandro [Alessandro Nesta] had the possibility of not playing anymore, this gave him an incredible motivation to return the same player of before.
"And now the derby: playing straight away against the favourites is positive for us, it’s a way to measure ourselves. President Berlusconi phoned me straight away after the game, he was happy: he is very close to us, this is important.”
The main part of the win is the players. Also they asked about the match. First, is Milan ‘keeper Marco Storari, who was between the sticks for the entire match and made some impressive saves, despite concede a goal. Marco said:
“There’s great satisfaction for this win. We needed this win to start the season on the right track, now we must concentrate on the next match. Siena were not dangerous in many occasions. Their equalizer arrived due to our mistake and we were good enough to double the score straight away early in the second half.
"Personally I’m happy and I hope that I have many more chances to defend Milan’s goal. In front of in defense there are Nesta, who returned to great levels, and Thiago Silva who is really good. On Saturday the derby awaits us, let’s hope to play the game in the best possible way.”
Also the goalscorer of this game, Alexandre Pato sum up the match that he scored twice at, with three short sentences. The Brazilian said:
“We must go forward like this and continue to do our best. We are improving. The coach is doing very well.”
The Rossoneri forward Marco Borriello who played for 90 minute told:
“Tonight I did what the coached asked me to do, I sacrificed myself, but it did not weigh up on me as my physical condition is good. I took advantage of Huntelaar’s suspension and I think that I had a good performance together with the entire team.
"The two goals arrived from a triangle between Pato, Ronaldinho and myself, therefore we did well.
"A win which boosts our morale and confidence ahead of the derby game. We must start from here, an important week awaits us in which we can train calmly to face Saturday’s match in the best possible way.”
The next match is against Inter Milan, a derby, and Milan need to work very hard ahead of it. Inter will face later today the new Serie A team, Bari. Let’s hope Bari will be hard competition for them!
