Cellino backs Allegri for Milan job

MASSIMIO CELLINO thinks AC Milan should take Massimiliano Allegri, but insists Davide Astori stays at Cagliari.

The Cagliari president, who fired Allegri for being distracted by interests from other clubs, has given AC Milan a go-ahead regarding the 42-year-old Italian Boss.

Allegri met face-to-face with Milan President Silvio Berlusconi yesterday and reportedly agreed to become the new coach of AC Milan, as only the official lacks. Cellino thinks he’s the best man the Rossoneri can choose.

Cellino told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “It’s the best choice for Milan, he is the most complete tactician.

“I didn’t even tackle the issue of releasing Allegri with Berlusconi and [Milan chief executive Adriano] Galliani. It wasn’t needed. Our relationship is excellent and will stay the same.”

But, Cellino warns Milan that he wouldn’t give up on Davide Astori so easy. Astori is in co-ownership between Cagliari and Milan, and the Rossoneri want him back. “Yes, I’m ready to bet he will stay here,” added Cellino.
