AC Milan-Chievo Verona: Back To The League

AC MILAN are hosting CHIEVO VERONA on Sunday night, when the clock strikes 8.45 in Italy, in Stadio San Siro, as the Rossoneri need the three points after recent stumbles.

Coming from the second place, but after two games in which they didn’t manage to score even a single goal, Milan will be trying to come back on winning-way, but it wouldn’t be so simple for il Diavolo.

The Flying Donkeys are showing no signs of movement in league, as they are in the middle of the table. A victory may be too much to ask, but Chievo will be playing for one point in the Giuseppe Meazza in two days.

What Have We Learned From Man United 4-0 AC Milan?

In the last time the two sides met, Alessandro Nesta saved the day for AC Milan with two late goals. Chievo’s Giampiero Pinzi took the lead in the 7th minute. Nesta scored a brace: in the 81′ minute and in the 92′ minute to give Milan the three points.

What has happened to Milan? This is the question that’s being asked in every Milanisti house in the last week. Starting with the wasteful draw against A.S. Roma, through the shameful 4-0 defeat versus Man United.

LAST FIVE: AC MILAN

March 10 v Manchester United (A) – LOST 4-0 (Champions League)

March 6 v Roma (A) – DREW 0-0 (Serie A)

February 28 v Atalanta (H) – WON 3-1 (Serie A)

February 24 v Fiorentina (A) – WON 2-1 (Serie A)

February 21 v Bari (A) – WON 2-0 (Serie A)

Against Roma, the attack was the one to blame. Many balls had been wasted by Marco Borriello and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, but in Manchester United story, there was no defense, as Milan had a poor night.

One thing is positive from the dreadful night against The Red Devils: Milan now can focus on what is really important and this is the league. Leonardo’s men see only Scudetto in the eyes at the moment.

And indeed, it’s not far from them. Milan are correctly second in league, four points behind league leaders Inter (who play on Friday following midweek CL clash with Chelsea) and three points ahead of Roma in third.

The Rossoneri have 55 points now, but the gap from Inter could be seven points should the Nerazzuri beat Catania tonight. Having said that, Milan now must to win in order to keep the domestic race open for them.

NEWS:  Onyewu, Nesta, Bonera, Antonini and Pato are out with injuries.

LAST FIVE: CHIEVO VERONA

March 7 v Bari (A) – LOST 1-0 (Serie A)

February 28 v Cagliari (H) – WON 2-1 (Serie A)

February 21 v Atalanta (A) – WON 1-0 (Serie A)

February 14 v Siena (H) – LOST 1-0 (Serie A)

February 7 v Genoa (A) – LOST 1-0 (Serie A)

The season has stopped for Chievo. They’re in the mid-table, 12th in Serie A with 35 points from 27 matches, and it ain’t seem like going to be a surprising season for them, as they will probably finish in this rank.

The recent matches of the visitors have seen upwards and downwards, as they failed to beat the weak teams, while achieving three points from a first-half team this term such as Cagliari.

It is very unlikely that Chievo would beat the Rossoneri in Stadio San Siro. The away record of Ceo is not so well, as has succeeded to win in only five occasions, while losing seven of them and drew twice.

NEWS: Moro and Abbruscato are unavailable while Mantovani, Sorrentino, Bianchi, Marcolini, Pellissier and Iori are reportedly struggling with injuries.

PREDICTION
After two stops in Rome and England in which Milan didn’t score goals, the Rossoneri would be desperate to score. Meanwhile, Chievo are not in the best form and basically, Milan are better. AC Milan 1-0 Chievo Verona
